Nice strapless foiling,as always jealous of the clear water that Australia has.Could you fill us in on your Axis setup front wing, stab, mast length.

Awesome work by Rob on the drone. Wind 12-14knts, sail 5.3, Axis 82cm mast, short fuse, 880 HPS, 425p, Tabou Pocket Air 97L.
Really nice cruisy conditions.
Liking the 880, easy to get up on foil, super glide and a decent cruising speed.
We are lucky to have such clear water and nice breeze to play in.

Thanks for great vid! It is Interesting to see how far your back foot is! It looks like you have it AFT of the mast and it made for balanced and steady flight. My back foot never gets further back than the front bolt.

He did say, short fuselage. That might explain the position of his back foot.

I could only get a short fuselage when I bought the set up originally for winging. The board is short 173cm and the mast base is quite far back. I have had to move the foil mast forward to get it gybing nicely. When powered up the kick pad helps the back foot feel secure. Definitely a more technical set up to sail than my Wizard 105, Infinity 65 combo but it works.
Pumping up on foil is very different having to point further downwind and build a bit of board speed first.

Very different feel. Got on Rob's SS114 yesterday with front strap and it is surprising how much feedback the strap gives you as to foot position. Makes the gybe easier with leverage over the board. Rob didn't have the back strap on and I missed it for loading up and pushing for speed. Two people have observed in the video that my stance is quite different to riding strapped on the 105, more upright and less arse out strapless (board is narrower in the tail too with track closer to front foot).
The strapless set up is very cruisy and allows me to sail at a variety of speeds which was useful when doing follow cam with Rob yesterday.
I like the freedom of being able to put your feet where it feels right and the foot change in the gybe is more bringing both feet together pointing down the board the same as a wingding gybe. I think that not being fixed in front foot position gives a lot of options for gybe radius too. Definitely don't feel that I am able to push the speed strapless yet but a lot of learning to do. Good to do something different and Pierre has shown that you can go fast strapless so something to work on.

Mark filming me yesterday, I was struggling with too much lift as you can see

Today was almost identical conditions so I moved the foil mast back from 2.5 to 1.5 and it was sooo much better.

Tuning the foil mast / sail mast / footstraps positions to get the right balance, gives heaps of confidence when running down a wave face.
