Ok, another dumb question for the experts on here....
My son was sailing today and this gave way on an old NCX....
At the end of our session I noticed that my old Hellcat may soon suffer the same problem.....
So, can I use one of these to replace that factory part?
My concern is 1. whether the RADZ part is designed for that purpose and has the strength to do the job?
And 2. The curve in the hook is not ideal and possibly impossible to thread through the webbing due to the angle?
Or are you meant to get a sail maker to do a proper job and replace it with the same part which I assume would involve unstitching and restitching to install an identical pulley?
Plenty of hours use left in both sails.
No there is a proper replacement, just cut the old one off and fit new.
These do it wonderfully: www.surfsailaustralia.com.au/product/ezzy-stainless-tack-pulley-1
and outlast the sail so always remove them later!
Yes, you just need to remove old one with bolt cutters or similar so as to not damage webbing (no angle grinder!! )
The pin on new one slides thru
No, the swan neck pulley will damage the tack webbing. Your better replacing the broken tack pulley with a like for like one. Any one of these will do the trick :)

Yep, Thanks mate
I added a pulley setup to a sail that only came with an eyelet and I used a harken triple block pulley setup (or whatever they are called) with a stainless d-shackle, from Whitworths. The difference was amazing. I think these pulleys have bearings and it went from difficult to downhaul to incredibly easy. I have Ezzy sails and Neil Pryde ones as well, and it was noticeably better than them.
