It seems the competitiveness of many board brands is bigger than ever! Choose your board that suits your style! They can all win so go for it! Yeww

A lot of them these days are sailing with the same board and sails. Eg North/Fanatic, GA/Tabou and of course Starboard/Severne.

Yes there is super strong board/sail alliances and some even owned by its partner. But many combine for testing and development purposes trying to get an edge for ultimate relationship between the board and sail.

There is some board and sail brands I believe don't match well, but generally most interchange very nicely.

Other partners are rrd/neilpryde and Patrik/loft

I think 99 Novenove are with avanti, since finian is heavily involved with both.

It seems point 7 sails don't have a true alliance, possibly a smart move?

I think you may have almost crossed into a headline...

Who's using Maui Sails in the PWA - none in that top 20 although has MS ceased sponsoring this year with the recent company changes that have taken place.

2015 it was stubby noses but is this a sneak peak at *B's new 2016 stubby tail slalom - "gets you over the line earlier" & "less wetted tail area for more control" or "wingers increased by half the board width to decrease the possibilty of structural failure in case you hit a fish"
PS - I had one of these some years ago.

Is it more about the riders then what they are riding

The only improvement I can see in sails over the last few years is with cam rotation.

The earlier Severne Reflex sails--- the cam rotation was average at best. Have heard the newer ones rotate great.

Doubt there's any improvement though in top speed. From my testing of newer / older sails--- they are all identical in speed.

The best rotating slalom / race sail I've tried is the Maui. The worst is that famous brand name....but I'm not going there.

Most development is going into acceleration for all sail brands as top speed is usually not that different during a race. Then depending on size other features are decided. eg. control for small sails and power/pumping ability for big sizes. Well for North anyway

It is nice to see a real mix up in the placings so far this year.

An Italian first a Brit second and a Frenchman third....sounds like a Black Adder sketch....
