I need to fix a few minor chips/cracks on my board. No problem.
On the bottom however there is a crack where there is a tiny bit of give. Should i remove the cracked original epoxy deck part which gives way and then reglue it on (or just discard it) and then epoxyfill/fibreglass it. Or should i leave the crack as it is and just epoxy/fibreglass over it?
The other option is to lift the moving part slightly and try to stuff i. E. Some foam under it and when theres no more "give" to then epoxy over that. The movement is very minor/small and i dont think i can lift it enough to stuff something below it.
This is a surfboard....?
I thought it was in the centre of a swallowtail until i saw the whole pic. Where/ what..?
windsurfer LT. epoxy shell and foam core. its the underside 3/4 to the front.
Definitely need to fix it or it will suck water.
I'd remove the cracked pieces down to eps core and replace with 3mm pvc foam and fiberglass. If you have no pvc then several layers of fiberglass and epoxy/qcel mix. Try and keep repair area small so you don't add weight.
Also dry area out for a few days once you remove broken bits before repair
could also take to Peter Nitschke on sunny coast for a repair. More build/repair experience than anyone on the east coast and knows the Lt intimatley

LT has no sandwich top dunno about bottom so can be an easy DIY
it's non structural so just fill would do

Yep you are right, it's bulking matt construction. Couple of mm thick

the brown stuff was just tape so water didnt get inside while i rode it.

do you reckon i should cut a small piece of the board out as there is a little bit of "giveway" when pressing on the damaged area? Or just leave it and fill it with epoxy + fibrerglass on top.
Cut out is better
cut a bit larger with a knife, fill with resin and qcell mix. Only say 5mm deep max
Later sand a shallow depression like 0.5mm and give it say 3x 4oz glass. then sand, fair, sand.
that would be the easiest repair for a non structural area

Yeah i will remove those bits, fill the hopefully small hole with PUfoam, epoxy over it and then cover it with some fibreglass after.
