I have been given a Dufour Wing and it has 2 small holes at the rear that appear to have part of an outer section broken off.
Do I need to do anything with the holes?
Maybe originally for a lifting strap or where they injected foam in the molding process ???
Just for safety sake id squirt some silicone down the hole and around the outside gap.

Also the guy I got it from can't find the daggerboard, so if anyone has one they no longer need it would be appreciated as it looks to be a time consuming job to make one from the fuzzy pictures on the web.

Sometimes those older boards can get really brittle so be cautious on your first few sessions. I remember being given an old wally which I had to find a centreboard for. When I rigged up at the beach and pushed the centreboard in, the whole case and a chunk of the bottom broke off.

My Dufour differs a bit with respect to how the mast attaches to the board as others have mentioned in the blog.
The mast connector holes have no pins and the mast fitting is pushed into the hole then the large part of the red fitting is rotated to force and compress the end black rubber section out to a bigger diameter to grip the board and seems quite tight and secure.

it was not I who drew it
looks like each square is 2 cm
measure the opening and that is how wide the dagger was
at it widest point
Funny you'd complain of the low retention mast base...
In Sept. '83, I took my DF Wing out at Ocean Beach SF in 3-5' surf when 7 surfers where also out in chest to head high waves and side/off 7 mph breezes. After hogging 7 waves, the sail got stuck UNDER the old Sloat pier while the board climbed atop. I was stuck for over 15 minutes trying to separate the rig from the board. The surfer's loved the sideshow.

Yeah, can be a bit brittle.
This one had some pre existing damage to the centre board box.
This was my first sail on it after a 3 hour round trip to pick it up.
It was gifted to me, so no complaints.
It was a laugh when it happened. Stood on it and heard a crack. Next moment I am attempting a Jean Claude Van Damme type split (unsuccessfully), one foot either side as the two ends part ways.
Gave a couple of spectators on the beach a giggle too.
Its usually the way they are stored . On a rafter under the clear panel in a tin shed . Could get close to 100 deg on a hot day , X 10 years .
Sometimes it might be better getting the one stored outside behind the shed overgrown with weeds.
