Mine is a 2011 Exocet Cross 84 litre. A bump and jump board that excels in heavy conditions. I have it set up with double straps at the back and it loves a small slalom fin. Great for open ocean blasting, it handles like a Spitfire and loves to gybe. Combined with an Ezzy Cheetah 5.5, 20-25kts of wind and some big bay swells and I'm in windsurfing heaven.
I think it would be interesting see others fav boards and why.
2011 104 litre mistral Syncro .why so comfy in chop and jumps like a kangaroo .
so smooth and gybes like a dream .with my 6.0 cheetah .
but I could never do without my other 4
It evolved along the years. I loved my starboard formula 156 from 2002 (?), max efficiency from 7.0 to 9.2, my wife also learned windsurfing on it!
Then the Goya FXR from 2006 in 105L, not a fast board and prefer smaller sails but amazing in the turns and super easy to sail and handle.
The Tabou DaCurve 2007(?), amazing light and fast single fin wave board that has good pop, planes early and carves hard! Big sail range.
More recently the Starboard Kode Wave from 2013 in 87L. A fast, efficient twin that can transcend crappy conditions, yet handle big wave days. Stable, early planing, can handle strong winds, good for novice to advanced.
I have many more tested too: windsurfing.lepicture.com/board-tests/
Whats my favorite board and why?
Pouring down rain, no wind, internet down and only a windsurfing dvd to watch. Why, cause I get to catch up on sleep.
Oh wait, board, not bored
Sorry, please disregard the comments above.lol
Generally it's the one I'm riding at the time.
The reason why is cause I'm riding it at the time
Best boards I've had
Mistral Flow not great in any one area but very good overall.
Tabou Thunder, Looked like it had been bashed by the ugly stick, but was one of the best boards I ever had, was ridiculous how easy it was and how much fun it was to ride, the only boards I ever regretted selling.
it seems to be important to say what is your favourite board and in what conditions
now that foiling is out too - that is its own category as well
after that we have longboards, formula, hybrids\OD, short boards and even specialized boards
in the short board category alone we have - freeride, freerace, slalom, wave, freewave, freemove, freestyle, FSW
and we wonder why people have multiple boards ??
my favourite longboard is my Mistral Equipe 2 XR
my favourite wide freeride is my JP SLW92
think my favourite freeride so far was my AHD FF 160
have tried some slalom, but bit off more than i can chew
(obviously I am a heavyweight sailing mostly in light wind conditions as a weekend warrior)
maybe the question should be what boards do you have - your favourite of the bunch and why
where you sail and conditions thereof
Mine is a Patrik 155L. I had slalom boards previously. I got a loan of the big freeride board and OMG! So easy to gybe. Big sails for light wind flat water or... small waves with bugger all wind and a small sail. Amazing versatility = value for money. So if I had to have one board - this would be it. Biggest range of conditions, in the zone for most frequent conditions. Sweet!
Of these, Witchcraft, MOO Custom, Mark Nelson, Brian Cartwright, my shed conversion of a Naish Titan into a compact FSW quad is my favorite. It's 95+or - liters, does everything I could ever want.
and I did it
Only been riding the shortstuff for 12months. Totally frothin over my (2002?) AHD FreeDiamond 149. 8.5m-9.5m.10-25kts This thing is a machine.. Planes easily Comfy to sail.Has enabled my 100kg to get going when the lightweights are having fun(10-12kts) At 270x77 its a big rig. But that sweet rockerline really works. Had it to 30kts speed many times. Makes me wonder why i need any other board for where i sail??
The allround performer.
My favorite board so far is the Naish Starship, but that's no surprise on this site.
The reason I chose this board was because I first wanted a new generation board that would replace, and perform similar to my early 2000 Naish Titan 110L board, and the Starship was recommended. I then saw that the Starship had an huge wind range and could handle a huge sail range as well, along with performing well in rough, choppy, wavy and flat water conditions. The 115L Naish Starship was looking pretty promising while having 4.5-7.0 sail range. I also wanted one board only, to handle my sailing and wind ranges. Since this board eats chop, isn't wide, had great volume in the right spots, very fast, thrilling to ride, easy to gybe and bump n jump ready, I was sold on the Starship. I have never regretted my choice. I researched several boards before I went with the Starship and I'm pleased with it.
The starship is advertised as a freeride, freestyle, bump n jump wave board and it sure seems to do it all.
I do have to say, when I first jumped on the board, I had to get used to Its speed, and adjust the foot straps to my sailing style and stance. The Starship is way faster than my old titan, and the Starship wants to jump every wave it comes in contact with. After 5 sessions, I was in the groove and felt confident in dominating, manoeuvring and challenging the board in a variety of conditions. It felt perfect!!
good question shifu, but difficult
I Guess you would have to choose the one you want to ride all the time ,not the actual board
which is needed for the conditions of the day ,I'm lucky if i get to sail anything
smaller than my 125 Tabou rocket ,but the one I really like to ride is my 105 rocket ,thats what i would pick .
Its fast ,eats chop and very light .jumps quite good too ,
Well.... I don't like any of mine at the moment. I guess it's time to look for something else!
Mainly use 2015 104L Futura but it feels too heavy and slow. Want something that can go fast and eat chop about 100L.

When this thread is about done with, make a list of all these boards we all love, and test them all out at a board rental shop. I'm sure one of these boards will suit you.
Torn between 2 Lovers.
I met my first true love online . Being very inexperienced she sounded just like what I needed so after a bit of flirting we agreed to meet.
Turns out it was PhilSWR's ex .
The buttered bun looked like she had seen many lovers and I could tell phil was ready to move on so after some thumb wrestling she ended up coming home with me.
We both loved the water and I took her to many new and exciting spots , so many good times in the sunshine or rain It really doesn't matter when your in love.
She taught me so many things from uphauling all the way to duck gybing .
I new every part of her body from the big veed booty with huge doubles up front to locating her straps without even looking , what she did and didn't like - even after wild throws of passion she never complained as I massaged q-cell into the bruises.
It was a match made in heaven........
That was until I met 67L.
She had DaCurves like I'd never seen before , incredibly slim and oh so attractive. She was everything F2 SX wasn't . Young , energetic , beautiful , unridden and even came with 4 fins - I was only ever used to 1.
I new it was wrong of me but I had to have her , I'm only human.
DaCurve told me "Don't bother with anything under 20 -I will let you down" she was right , many times leaving me dangling in waterstart far further out the back than I would like to be- but that was her worst trait and I was warned.
Wild is an understatement getting high was always her objective so high in fact sometimes I had to bail - I told her landing from this will be bad for both of us but still she kept on doing it.
Her scalpel like reflexes were second to none exactly being were I wanted her to be at all times.
I knew I was punching far above my weight with her as she would please the most fussy of riders , This I'm sure of.
Sadly Miss curve came with a hefty price tag and F2 has since left me , last I heard she was living in the back of an old shed somewhere
Oh the memories
all of my mate's boards when they offer me to try them.... then ride them like if stolen !!!
if not, whatever floats, and has Isonic107 written on it.
2018 Patrik F-race 100. It eats chop, gybes beautifully and is quick. It's not my fastest board, but absolutely thrives in the real world lumpy goodness of Moreton Bay.
Tabou 2016 Speedster 100L, eats chop, gybes sensational and goes exceptionally well for 37knots I think it has more. Super comfortable under the feet and Magical to ride.
It feels the same as my Tabou 2018 Manta 98
Happy Days
my best speed memories are with JP Slalom Pro III 69 (litres): fast, easy to take off and jibe, incredible acceleration, great across the wind...
you don't need the latest model to have a good time.

2006 131 Falcon 245L 79w, Quick planning board, accelerates effortlessly excellent top end speed (37knt max best to date ) great wind range and very versatile can use 6.3 to 8m+
I believe it's only one of two 131's boards brought into Australia I've tried quite a few new 130 litre boards and nothing comes close to the 131 Falcon it will be a sad day when it dies.
JP FS 92. Like other FS boards - fast, early planing with a small sail. Unlike other FS boards - good in chop and carves pretty well.

I had one of these I think it was around 110L. Great board, light, crisp and one of the earliest planing boards I've had for it's size. It had great speed in relatively light wind.

Hard to believe you're still riding it, i've long since moved mine on, it's now retired to a shed apparently. I think i've had 7 boards since to fill that gap & some were better at particular things but none have been the allround package that the 131 was.
FSW - Severne Dyno
Blasting B&J - Tabou 3S ..... keeps up with slalom boards in the rough stuff, my 116 is a LOT faster than I thought it would be
Quad - 2012-3 F2 Barracuda they are just so good at everything. But they didn't make a big one - in large waveboards the Goya Cube quad for sure. Its amazing, it planes up nice unlike some big waveboards that are designed for little blokes for dogging out and riding only.
Thus my new build this winter will be a 110L version of the 'cuda - sort of....
Only 2 sails on the stubby, but has put a fat smile on the dial in average conditions, so impressive so far !!
CA - Kina, was my favourite when the conditions are on, but I've now sold it, awaiting its replacement to turn up ??, hopefully the new ride surpass the old one.
JP - 102 litre mid 2006, such a fast board, used it with a 7m for bay blasting, first board that got me into the waves with a 5.7, loved that thing ??
i've had a one board quiver for the past few years. it's the best board i've ever owned. i tested 3 prototypes before settling on my board so i can honestly say it is the best board for me.
recenty i got an LT. awesome board. really fun to sail. great board too.
A 2007 custom twin I shaped, Ive converted it to a quad. I occasionally still take it out in a decent wind (I'm a bit heavier than I was 12 yrs ago)
My favourite production of all time would have to be the 2012 F2 Barracuda early planing for its volume, great top end speed, unreal on a wave. A hidden gem that was never replicated after the shaper left F2. Still got one in my shed as a back up board.
