Hi all,
Just letting you know that we will be doing some maintenance to the gpsteamchallenge website over the next hour or two.
If it's down right now, then that's the reason
Thanks for your patience, it should be back up now. If not then just wait half an hour.
Please post below if you notice any issues.
Thanks Ben,
but there seems to be a few discrepancies in the individual rankings.
eg.
The 78 year old rankings shows me with a 31.9 2s but on 16/1/23 I had a 38.392 2s, and my 78the birthday was 9 days previous. The 31.9 was on the 10/1/23 only 3 days after my birthday.
And the all time best shows Steve Thorpe with a 47.37 from 2010, there's no sign of all those luderitz 50s
Hmmm. OK thanks for letting me know Decrepit. I'll dive into it tonight.
The new server has a different version of the database engine. I wasn't expecting it to give different results, but it looks like this may be causing some issues.
If its any help, my 37 from earlier this year seems to be stricken from the record. :)

American date system maybe?
All my top 5 Personal Bests are up to date in my profile tab, but the PBs are not in the Overall Rankings tab
When looking at the rankings for each year, it looks like it is only looking at the first session posted in that year for certain people.

Yes, very clever.
I've tried logging in. After entering username and password I see the "logging in, this may take a moment" then after the page loads I am not logged in and unable to comment on latest sessions. Browser Safari version 16.3.
I then logged in using iPhone which logged me in on the laptop.
I logged out to test again and I am now unable to login on laptop.
After what looked like a failed login, I opened GPSTC in a new window and it had me as logged in.
Sorry but I haven't been able to define the issue better.
I nearly always have to login twice, that's maybe what's happening to you?
Also Nebs is playing with the code, that may also be the problem
Regarding the login issue, I think this should be resolved now. A very clever member called Scott alerted me to the issue, and I think it should be working now.
Good one Ben, It only takes one go to log in now, but still takes 2 goes to log out, (not that I do that very often)
Ben, did you add any new functionality?
Not yet.
The upgrade was due to the web provider wanting us to change servers, and the new server has a strange issue with regard to the rankings. First on the list is to sort out the rankings issue.

The rankings are using the first session of the year when filtered for year, or first session of the month when filtered for month.

Sounds like the rows returned for the database query are not sorted, or just one row is returned or looked at.
Automatic uploading from gps-speedsurfing seems not to work anymore. A form with empty fields comes up, so you have to fill in all numbers manually. (Oesterdam Locals Team).
I had no problems with mine on Sunday, but I had 5.75 version software so don't know if this made a difference.
I noticed last night when I tried to export data for the year to CSV, there were a lot of extra rows with random
text. Is anyone else getting this? It used to be just one row per session.
depends what you put in the comments. CSV doesn't handle pictures at all. You just get the hexedecimal code, just random text. The first part of it will start with "img" for image. Just delete all that rubbish.

Yep, I think an Excel cell can only hold about 32,000 characters.
The raking bug seems to be sorted thank you.

Still problems with automatic uploading frome gp3s to gsptc. Me and my palls (Oesterdam locals team) have to fill in all numbers by hand. If we post from gp3s, a empty form appears (Windows 10)
Greetings, Jan
Thanks for the tip, didnt know that this was possible. I tried it out, and it even gives the numbers with 3 digits after the decimal point. GPSspeedreader is a amazing piece of software, very impressive !!

In my opinion it's the best, especially for GPSTC use.
The hour algorithm is the way we want it, the number of NMs traveled in over an hour period.
So it doesn't matter how long you sail or what your starting speed is, you always get an accurate result.
There never should be a "0" hour.
And the default filters eliminate most invalid results.

It looks like the issue is tied to the period when image uploads were blocked. Before that time was fine, but around Sept 2022 we started pasting in our tracks from the clipboard instead, and from that point on there is a lot of hex code cluttering up the CSV file.
It can be manually cleaned up for those that like to keep their stats. Luckily (?) for me I dont have too many sessions since then to clean up.
