GT31 - how to format a SD card

Need help in formatting a SD card 2gig scandisk.
bought a new SD card and GT31 does not read card ?
I appreciate some advise on this.

Either format it with your GT-31 or with your computer as a FAT32 drive.

With the GT-31 go to Memory Card in the menu and then scroll down to format card and select it. Volia!

I'm using a 2GB Scandisk card purchased from JB Hifi and its working fine.

I thought you were meant to format the SD card using FAT16 (or also referred to as FAT).

I reformatted one of mine just yesterday and used FAT16, and it worked fine.

Yes you are right. I checked my card's format and with Windows 7 its referred to as FAT. I think I just formatted the card with the GPS and never took much notice of how it was formatted once it started working.

I could not format the card using the GT-31, but after I used my pc it worked fine in the unit. It is a 2GB, one of the recommended ones.
