Took the new firmware for a sail today with encouraging results,
Here's the watch display, after turning off and on again
dist 8.61 NM Gpsresults says 15.49Km, my calculator says it's 15.94572, but the I've got GPSResults filter set to 2kts min
5# NSEC was weird only showed 1 run, which was far from the highest, all "0"
Top RSLT is still showing ---- GPSResults gives,
27.97kt max 27.972
19.80kt @500 19.801
27.34kt 100m 27.341
26.41kt 250m 26.415
24.68kt 500m 24.683
This is the encouraging bit, if we had 2s, 1hr and NM we wouldn't need anything else, you could post straight from the watch. Providing of course these sort of exact comparisons continue.
last run says
15.08kts max and 2.17kts 10s
again this is weird. the max is the same as it was before I switched off, but the 10s is way down.
There are 4 windows, that scroll through but they are all the same, showing max and Nsec average, (and I can't figure out how to change them, this may be a work in progress, and space for our other divisions) so if you have distance display set to "on", you wait for ages before the distance briefly flashes past
Had another go today with version "C"
So tried the screen flip, and wore the watch on the inside of my left wrist. The theory being you can see the screen going down the run and have good reception. I couldn't see the screen with my polaroid sunnies, because the angle was just too acute. Also I had to twist my arm to be able to read the display even stationary, and all the buttons are upside down. I felt much more comfortable with the watch when I un-flipped the screen.
I think everybody will have to try this for them selves, without Polaroids on it's probably more useful.
Looking at the data, there's no noticeable difference in the accuracy variations, still very good one way OK the other, except with the flipped screen the good side is now the underhand grip.
The 5xNs average has still got a bug, it keeps loosing numbers, I think I only once saw the display with all 5 spaces filled, most of the time there were only 2 or 3 results there. At end of session the watch display said 11.49kts, the average of only two 28s, when GPSResults says my 5x10 is 33.025
The speed genie display on mine now shows, distance -- @500 & 500m --- max spd & 10s
TOP RSLT numbers, max 34.91, @ 22.36, 100m 34.23, 250m 33.42, 500m 31.00
GPSResults says @ 22.390, 100m 34.23, 250m 33.423, 500m 31.008, so apart from the 5X10 there's an exact match to 2 decimal places.
