Gybe technique - specifically when Overpowered

G'day.

I'm after some tips on how to gybe when way over powered. Last weekends southerly blew from <10kts to >35kts. At the end of some runs I was way over powered and kept dragging the foot of the sail inside the arc. I couldn't seem to lean forward enough or Oversheet the sail to depower.
Sheeting out caused the sail drag. I also noticed I was leaning further back than normal. Perhaps to counter the extra sail pressure.

8.6m racing blade on 121 isonic in about 20kts was the main problem.

No wonder!!!!!!!!

if just one word might help "Committment?" or it was just too windy to commit on that gear?
