I took a low cost water resistant camera out for a sail. Sat in the middle and tried to get a few pictures. The lens fogged a bit so the quality is average but it gives you some idea.
Wading into the lake the water was literally glassy. This was in 15-20 knots of wind!!!
Another shot
I sat 3/4 of the way across and shot a few passers by. This was the really rough part of the lake! Kato and Kim approach
Looking downwind
Now I'm a Gybe mark Kato!
Spotty has me in his sights
Nice Gybe Spotty!
Thumbs Up! Choco and Kato. It isn't that deep. They are standing up to their knees in soft mud!
Is this just a Mirage?
Thanks for the photos Daffy, I have been following the srite ups and speeds with great interest. Apart from the mud it sounds excellent.

Sailed a whole session and did not even see kato, don't crash out here either its a painful slog back in knee hi sludge/mud with weed on top.
Some would SA has always been renowned for quality weed, but this is ridiculous, feeling pretty HI here :), brought some home to grow and find a unused lake.
When, and where to gybe? the choice is easy...

I like the way no one mentioned how shallow it looks.. how dangerous it is and turned the post into a negative, it must only happen to me.

have fun !! live life keep smiling
Awesome pics guys. Spotty i reckon you get a job with White Caps! Bloody great shots! Nice to see the weed from mast high where it can't grab onto you and hold you prisoner until the next gust. Did a few runs with what can only be described as a "Hawiian Grass Skirt" weed dress on. Very becoming. Glad there were was no cameras around then. Soooooo keen to go back. How often do the planets line up and make it all work?
Cheers Tony
aus1111. that's good to know.
i love the photo of spotty, screaming along at 40+ knots and what's goingthrough his mind.....
ummm i wonder what the head of the sail is doing, i might just have a quick look.
either that or he has wind.
Jimbob is the expert on the weather cycle but apparently you get 4 seabreeze days in a row every week or so(aligning with approaching highs?), water levels are another concern as this depends on the drains feeding the lake and the winter king tide top-up.
