Mark Jordan Jan 1958 to Nov 2024

It is much to our sadness that Mark passed away last night at 11.05pm age 66 following a short battle with cancer.

Sue and I first met Mark at the Burrum Windfest event in 2011 when he offered to take me out in his boat to windsurf, from there we became good friends with Sue and I visiting him and Maree down at his caravan park at Port Mcquarie NSW then later making trips away together down to Lake George SA.

Our hearts go out to Maree, Dale and Rodney his brothers and his family.

We will miss you bud you were a great mate and a very talented windsurfer which we all admired.

Glynn and Sue

RIP Mark.

He was great friend and a great sailor.

Mark was always willing to help out other sailors and have a chat. I will miss him but he will be in my thoughts always.

I shared many speed days with Mark and Maree in Budgewoi or Lake George, they were inseparable. What a shocking news. Maree hope you will find strength and peace thinking of the wonderful time you had together sharing your passion and adventures.

Lake George won't feel the same without Mark putting down the hammer through the shallows. Rest in Peace.

I am so glad I went to Lake George last year, on a bad year, and met Mark.
I went alone, not knowing anyone there and Mark and Maree made me feel welcomed to the place and gave me a good introduction.
Mark said a few things that will stick with me forever.
His presence energised me to sail good.
I felt great that one of the best sailors, whom I'd only just met, had watched me and came straight up to give some coaching.

Sail on sir.

Much of this footage is 14th March 2024. Perhaps his last sail from 5mile?

What a shock he was so fit and healthy back at last February at Lake George where I got to know him over the last 5 years or so. Always friendly helpful and willing to help with technique and setting up gear, board, fin and sail advice. A great windsurfer who everyone looked up to and way too young. Condolences to Maree and he will be sadly missed.

That's the Mark I knew always pushing it hard and going shallow he was a risk taker for sure who would have thought cancer would get him. Thanks, Dave, for the video I just wish I had got some good videos of him since buying our big camera.

Had the privilege of meeting and sailing with Mark and Maree at Shark Bay exactly a year ago on their summer adventure here in the west. They both had the capacity to make you instantly feel like a friend and I will value the short time I spent with them on and off the water. Loved the video of Mark on Lake George. The water birds rising as he was sailing past was quite symbolic of his passing. Will raise a glass to toast him when up there again next week.

I only met Mark a few seconds around xmas last year at Ronnies BBQ in Albany so can't say I knew him in any way but as a rookie he was one of the inspirational 'old git' sailors that inspired me to take up the sport at age 50. He and a handful of other elders (about 5 ladies and about same that gentlemen) convinced me this was an enjoyable sport one could enjoy at least till their 80's. To see Mark in his prime cut down as a young punk in his 60's is tragic (deepest condolences to Maree and I truly hope Mark didn't suffer too much) Makes me more motivated to live life to the full.
