I have 2017 ODs. I notice the latest ones have much shorter booms ( c 22cms shorter for the 7m ) so I'd imagine more sail up higher???
Anyway have the sails improved much from 2017 ones?
Do they handle differently?
Hi, i use the Mach4 at this moment, and the difference in boom size is also the fact for this sail range (Compared Reflex8), in general the sails are much more lighter compared than the Reflex7/8 series (and previous), the high-aspect ratio creates more foreward pull, i think this will also be the fact for the Overdrives from 2021.... so the handle differently for sure (gibes also easier )

Thanks. Yes I like the idea of the shorter boom. I wonder what the rotation is like?
My 2017s are still in great nic and I don't get to use the smaller ones much.
Just mulling over whether it's worth upgrading a few of the most used ones..
Rotation is perfect, is use them with the recommended masts (Apex) and in the smaller sizes (5.5 and 6.2) i use the RDM, that's even better both in comfort and rotation....
Why is it that the Apex masts allow better rotation than the old severne masts. Different bend or the slightly smaller diameter. The reason I ask is I'm using the older 75% yellow carbon mast and my Mach 2 s still don't rotate that well. When you pull off the cam and push on top of older mast the rollers on the cams make good contact and seem to slide a round ok.
I would have thought after 8 years of reflexes and 4 years of machs. I've been hearing for over 10 years now about bad rotation , I thought severne would have done something to improve this.
For the the money that these cost how hard would it be to design a new cam. Maybe a hinge or knuckle in the middle, or something.
No idea, how old is the yellow 75% mast ? I also have some Avanti SDM masts as backup and they also perform very well and rotate smoothly, so not really recgonize the issues you describe, i've sailing the reflexes since type III , but upgraded masts also in the last two years...

I've got a 430 yellow 75% for my 6. 2 and 7.0 and blue 75% 460 for my 7.8.
I'm guessing around about 2015 to 2017, but not exactly sure. I do know thou that the 430 yellow one was supposedly compatible with the reflex 7s 6.2m and 7.0m both these sails didn't rotate very well at all especially the 7.0. The severne website states that the older and newer masts have the same bend characteristics but the newer ones are slightly thiner diameter.
Xbraun54 did your reflexes rotate ok. And,are you using severnes on avant masts?
Default i use the recommended Apex Pro's on my Mach4's, and in some occasions (example when my sun is using the same mast for his sail) , i use Avanti Tow Pro C100's as backup, they also perform well, including rotating.... they are some shop overhere who still have some originals Tow Pro's C100, brand new available, and its a less expensive alternative than buying some more Apex Pro's....
