Pretty proud Dad moment for me and probably more so for my dad 'Pop' (Anthony) there to share the first feeling! I think my dad is even more keen than me to get him on the board.
I can clearly still remember the very first sail I had sitting on the front of dad's grey mistral on the plane at 4years old belting across the bay. The addiction kicked off from there with slalom/GPS sailing and hasn't stopped since! Now I'm 25 years in at 30years old. My little man Flynn at 2 and a half years old will eventually kick off his love for the sport I'm hoping when the time comes. No pressure.. But it will be mentioned to get him to 40knots at 14years old to beat me haha
I bet there is many out there in Aus that have had the same experience and enjoyment seeing their kids get out on the water! I just hope this sport remains around long enough for us all to continue to windsurf and the continuous stream of buying more gear
PS: Cheers to Dave for the lend of the LT kit.
You are a lucky man @izaak , sharing the sport with your father and son is a wonderful thing. Hope the little guy grows up with the same passion you and your dad have for windsurfing. I remember when my son was the same age and took his first runs in the Gorge and Western Australia. He's an engineer now building next generation 3D printed military drones with me! Doesn't windsurf as much, but I did take him flying Spitfires in the UK last year.
Very nice Izaak I would sail with my youngest on the front of the one design. They would stand up and surf on the front. Incredible balance skills at 10 yrs old . Sailed for a few years then moved to Melbourne and drifted into other things.
