I grabbed some photos at Liptons Mandurah yesterday, high tide but good wind, only a few going into the bay while I was there.

Yes, great photos Firie. All those years of hiding in the bushes with a camera are certainly paying off
After seeing Stropoo in action, I am feeling a bit sorry for all the mast manufacturers

Great shots and sailors. Wow look at the sail twist with Stroppo!
As a lightweight I don't think I get much at all ?

Great shots Firie.....fantastic ! You've picked very capable sailors in the view finder.
The runaway Strop train is indeed an awesome sight ....it seems to require no effort on his part....how does that happen ?
I know for a fact that the Skipper carries a slice of Dot's magic cake in that backpack. Yum.

Looks like I need to adjust the straps on that backpack, Dot's cakes aren't that heavy!

Hey, Stroppo, I've had a word with the powers that be and I'm hoping to negotiate a sponsorship for you with Schick.
Quattro obviously. You're looking a little gnarly!

What's the best wind direction to sail at Liptons? This Sunday looks promising but where to go?

South Sou'West.

A west south west is also OK over the other side at Pt Grey. Anything from the east is great fun, ESE is about onshore, so there's long runs all the way to Ward Pt, but there tends to be the wind shadow of Pt Grey half way along.
From Busso, Glory holes is the closest. A lot depends on the tide/storm surge. If it's too high it will be choppy, but if it's low the northern end can be a lot of fun. Next along the line is Heron Pt, same goes there, too much water it's choppy.

If the tide/storm surge is really high then South Yunderup is also a possibility.

Given the forecast is West then moving through to SW. Should I come up or stay at glory holes. If Geo Bay isn't too rough that's my last option

You're looking at a different forecast to me, I'm seeing WNW swinging to W.

Yep. That's the place.

But it don't forget that it's mothers day when it windy.

Let mum have the day day with her angels.

do you think the kids will be disappointed if their Mum goes sailing?
Mum goes sailing and the kids cook dinner - now that sounds like a good day.

I don't think my Mum would be too happy if I went sailing though...
Can't win.

See your mum early, then sail..you'll be happier to be around ..I think we have 1-3kts forecast..watching the graph hoping for a miracle and 10-12kts to sail today..

Now there's a thought, there's even a tiny sand bar at the southern end.

Out the front of my place, Avalon Bay. A reef runs most of the way across it, WNW is straight onshore. Depending on tide and swell small waves can get over the reef, making a roller coaster ride, heaps of fun! They're pumping sand from the South side of the cut, to restore the natural sand migration south to north, this has formed a sand bar at the southern end of the bay. But I fear with today's swell this will have joined up with the shore and made a small lagoon. So we won't be able to get behind it.

I'll be about Monday, not sure where yet. Find out closer to the time where best to go from the more experienced mobbers. Early I hope for an all day session.

WSW is probably Pt Grey, but if it turns Westerly it's a long upwind, off shore, tack back.
An all dayer does sound good though.
Maybe Fangys or Novara? not so hard getting back in a westerly.

Sounds very possible for me. Keep me posted here or on 0413017871. I'll be looking to leave busselton by 830 and home by 3 to pickup kids from school.
Australind is also a possibility for me too.
That is so long as I don't get called into work.
Sunday is already confirmed no walking or cycling in bad weather like forecast.
