The Prom' got belted with WSW 50-60 knots winds this morning around 8.30-9am!! That would be at least 35-45Knots at the PiT!! It will be interesting to see if anyone was there to roll the dice and make a name for themselves.
If they were I think they owe me a Coffee for the sacrifice of not being there.

I would have sailed if I had a team mate!
Got out at Invy but very gusty, with a short strip meant low 30s. Still on my own but just safer. 30 with 40+ gusts
Peaked at the Prom at 89 Knots at 3:13 Daff!! and consistently sat at 65-75 for a couple of hours, would have been some sand moving down there I reckon.
This is the Yanakie weather station. Only a couple of KM's from the speed strip! Totally shocked that no-one was there after so long between big wind events.
That would have had 40-50+ knots over the course in the ideal direction and 30-40 knots until almost dark! Oh what a miss!!!!
Did that big wind blow over all the trees that have grown on the point?
Does anyone know of an app that can predict these conditions a few days in advance and keep an eye on a few spots?

All the existing weather prediction stuff (MetEye, WindGuru, WindFinder, etc) predicted it... [ you dont need a special app to use the existing stuff ]
Just the plain old Windguru, Predictwind and MetEye all showed this one coming for at least a week. They are all a lot more accurate as it gets closer though as regards timing of the front, and I was sure about it being a good one 3 days out, but still not enough time to drive back from Noosa.
Wasn't just Sandy point going off that day the guns at Stanley Tas. got big speed on a total run of 350m standing start to stop.
