Hello, I am looking to avoid buying a 430 Apex SDM mast for my Severne Mach 3 7.0 - does anyone have any experience using a 7.0 Mach 3 with a 430 RDM, can it be done with different cams? Thanks!

You can certainly do it with an overdrive, a mach3 might be a different story, I don't know anyone who has tried it. Best to speak to your local severne retailer about it. They might be able to answer your questions about whether it will work straight up.
They make rdm camber inducers for overdrives, but a Mach 3 could well have a different measurement from where the batten exits into the luff pocket, to the front of the luff pocket. If you know someone with an m3 overdrive that you can measure up, and compare to your Mach 3, that'll start to tell you whether it's worth trying or not. But even if the overdrive cams fit, there's a few other unknowns. Will it rotate properly? How will performance be affected?
I have and it works fine. As I'm only 67kg I like the extra flex in the RDM masts for when the gusts hit me. All a camber inducer does is "induce camber". It's the luff pocket and the battens and the downhaul and outhaul tensions that determine the actual shape of the front of the sail. I removed the original HUGE inducers and used standard Severne RDM inducers and made spacers to keep the inducer at the best position at the end of the batten pocket. To make a spacer I used 25mm orange plastic conduit that I heated and squashed into a flattish shape with enough of an oblong internal opening to get the batten pocket into. I'll post some pics if you wish.
