I used to enjoy looking at my GPS tracks on google earth, via KA72. Recently I have been unable to view them because the google earth site locks up before the image comes up. I get an error message saying "page unresponsive, do you want to kill this page?" Then no matter what I try to do the whole computer locks up and I have to reboot to do anything at all.
I have tried reloading Google earth but it tells me my system doesn't support the graphics, regardless of which method I use to access it. It was working for me a month ago, so what has changed?

Any ideas?

Any ideas?

ditch windows? Other operating systems don't crash the whole computer 99.99% of the time

Are you using the browser, google earth plug in, ie clicking on google earth on the KA72 site, or are you downloading the KML tracks from Ka72 and opening them with the google earth app on your computer??

Any way whichever way you're doing it, try the other.

I was using the google earth plug in via KA 72. That stopped working for me, so then I tried downloading google earth to do it the other way but I kept getting messages to say "direct X mode not supported" and it gives me a few things to try, which I have, to no avail. I have also tried "GL mode" but that won't work either.

Actually right now I'd be happy just to record a track!

Amen!!!!

I've had the direct-x and GL mode thing, and either of them work, but sometimes only after the 2nd or 3rd try.
It's got something to do with 3D support, maybe you need a graphics card.

@#%$# computers.
