I looked into it about a year ago and it's a fantastic idea but they are asking you to basically invest in the company with potential for the product. There was no production until they hit a target amount. Not sure if it's in production now but it's a cool idea.
You don't have to wait for Airdog , Follow me is a feature now on any UAV(drone) with a APM flight controller i.e. Pixhawk . Like in the Iris+ from 3DR.
