hi; just about to buy a7.2 H2O .They rig on a 430 pryde progressive flex mast(x6).I have a new 430 loft 80 constant curve .What difference in sail shape should I expect. If its not suitable I will bite the bullet and purchase the correct one.Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.Bring on the white caps.Cheers. phill.
Well worth buying the NP mast.
I've got the 7.7 and started off with it on a gun mast which is similar curve to the loft. The sail was usable but the leach wasn't twisting off as it should. Got an X6 and it transformed the sail.
Its probably worth a shot to rig the H20 on the loft mast and see how it goes. Of course its probably won't be as good as rigging it on an X6.
I rig three Loft 02s, a 5.9, 6.6 and 7.4 on an NP X6 460 mast and they rig quite well.
The mast is a 2007 model and the sails are 2009 models.
I seem to recall that Tushingham masts have a very similar curve to NP masts. May be a cheaper option to consider. But as Mobydisc suggested, try the sail on your current mast first - it may work OK for you.
i have a n/p rs4/6 on a loft rdm400, i used to use a loft430 on my 5/8rss and n/p6/2 till it broke, i now use a combat 430 rdm, both these masts are around the $600 i think
compared to maybe $1100 for the x6, i used to use a n/p x9 sdm till it broke
i'm sure i cant notice any difference in the performance in the 3 masts except the rotation is much smoother on the the rdm's
oops sorry SAM but thanks , it looks like i got a bargain either way I'm happy with the setup, maybe not recommended but it works for me
