stuff all wind today so i decided to clean out the trailer...starting with the fin things..
a conversation with elmo the other day re the continuing rise and rise of weedys, prompted me to boast to not having too many of the things. i was a little surprised how many i had when i emptied the bin bucket in the trailer..i think i havee a fettish for the things. i hope others are the same?? i know slowboat has an elephants grave yard full of them..(and boom arms!!!!) how many is too many????
ps i have to admit some of these are loaners about 8 off?
Not that many, but my collection is becoming a tad embarrassing. I tend to keep the fins when I sell a board
loaners may not have been the best term......cast off's or hand me downs would be better...i have discovered through trial and error and some minor mods that crappy pointers can some times make good weedys.. for example the fins that come with the boards from the worlds leading manufacturer..
I counted mine (didn't take long). I feel quite underequipped
I need to get a bigger weedie as the 7.6 really didnt work too well with my 29cm
Mineral got any suitable conversion candidates you want to flog?
I sometimes wonder if sailboards are like marital objects. You know you've got a perfectly good box and don't wish to stray but obvously the on-costs of owning a Miss Tuttle and still servicing Mrs Power can get a bit out of hand (scuse the pun). Anyone else findthemselves avoiding certain board brands because of the box? Obviously snides, you must be a tuttle kind of guy?
yep all my boards are tuttle,(other than my wave gear)its an age old debate and problem if you are keen on different boards that have different fin systems.
a couple of power box fins i have had i have convereted over,i cant see any reason why i cant convert them back..just need a power box mould .
i think most manufactureres are suppling their 'race/speed' boards with tuttle these days??? as to the merits of 1 over the other? i dont know- there are pros and cons for each.
Here's my wee collection, unfortunately I have a mix of box type between Tuttle and PB
I feel so embarrassed, I don't know how I've managed to accumulate so many pointers
It's like hoarding in general, you never need it until you get rid off it. When I started buying slalom boards I sold quite a few of my pointer power box fins and converted a few to tuttle. I'm think I'm down to about a dozen now.
But of course now I need a power box blade now to do some speed testing on my JP FSW. So from now on, lesson learnt, I'll just keep hoarding.
Snides8, is that a nice collection of Tectonics fins, top middle? very nice!
