Gday everyone,
With the Formula racing now finished for the season its time to shift up a few gears back to GPS/Slalom racing.
The committee are keeping an eye on next weekends forecast (14th/15th Feb) as a potential window to run the 3rd Freerace event. Location will be EITHER Botany or Lake Macquarie depending on where the best forecast is.
So this is just a heads up to try to keep next weekend clear, and fingers crossed the nor-easters come back for us.
Next update will be mid-week.
Cheers
James
Thanks James will try to get some time off work. Sat and Sun are looking good long range in Newcastle and only ok in Syd on Sunday.
Just an update - we are still watching the forecast and it looks like we will get racing somewhere, some time this weekend.
Location and day to be announced Thursday night. Looking forward to it.
GPS Freerace #3 - This SATURDAY at KYEEMAGH, Botany Bay - 12:30 rego
Based on Meteye and Windguru forecasts, Adam and I have decided the best conditions this weekend will be at Botany Bay on Satuday.
BOM Meteye forecast showing a 15-20 knot nor-easter, which is perfect for Kyeemagh.
We will aim to run two half hour sessions. We will set up for registration etc at the Yellow Stormriders trailer at 12:30pm at the Top Carpark at Kyeemagh, then racing will be during the afternoon, wind dependent.
Entry is only $20 for the day. Please make sure that your GPS is charged and your memory card is inside and working. After we finish sailing I will collect all the memory cards and process them straight away on the shore using the KA72 Freerace software.
Can't wait, see you there!

Thanks to all the sailors who came down to Kyeemagh this afternoon. The wind started off pretty patchy for the first race, before filling in well for the second race.
Results are below. Congratulations to Byron for holding off Justin and Remi to take the win overall.
Next event will be on Lake Macquarie on the first windy weekend in March.
Nice one Byron, well sailed man! And great work James, a bit of a shame we didn't see more punters on the day but i guess the forecast could be a bit to blame there,... it was a tad light.(ironically, perfect for Formula) Cheers to everyone who participated. See you in March up at the lake
Thanks Adam and James for running the event
It was a great work out, racing was so close
Had a great day
Hope we can get a big ne in the lake for the next one
Good one Byron. I did't even realise the race took place so didn't think to hand in my GPS file. I'd be interested to send it in to see if there is a chance of climbing off the last position. Who should I send it to?
Also, thanks for letting me take a ride on your rig. Very nice.

Will PM you with my email address to send the file to.
I also got a track from "slalomfreak", so will repost results tonight.
Nice one Berowne, you sailed well.
Special mention to Byron for winning the first race on a 7.something metre. I was feeling pretty smug or hopeful that I won that one, then the results came in !!
James what are the overall rankings with one event to go?
Overall series standings after 3 rounds. A drop will come into play after the fourth event which could make things interesting!
I put together a replay of the second race using the KA72 Freerace Master software. The software shows the distance travelled by each sailor and gives real time rankings.
Change the video resolution up to HD to make it easier to read the names.
I'm just trying to catch you, Bruce and Tibor. I have tried to catch Remi and Justing a bit in the past. Luckily I'm not easily embarrassed. Thanks for replay James, I can see need more work coming out of gybes to get back up to speed again.
Very good James. That is outstanding. And I can see the main problem I need to fix. Sitting on the beach for half the Heat is not conducive to a high position in the final result. I'll pay more attention next time. Although I would have not even been close to the top guys. Amazingly fast.
Hi James, how is this weekend looking for Heat 4. With a few sailors going up to Burrum for the following two weekends it rules quite a few guys out. (No self interest here whatsoever!!)
