Someone should think of doing a freeride foil gps type of competition, it might attract all those foilers that don't race.

Georgio... the NSW Slalom GPS Series is planning on FIN, FOIL, FIN+Foil categories so you are very welcome to attend these. Great fun, and if the wind is light or fluky, foils can actually do pretty well. !
Followed by mid-June 3 day event...

Will the IQ youth class be using the 8m 85cm wide board class equipment?
Or is the 9m 95cm equipment now considered youth class?
Good question. Some of the WNSW youths weigh >85kg, deadlift >200kg and handle the 9m IQfoil in 25kn. They want to go around a course as fast as possible & the 8m/85cm would be a step back. For techno sailors the transition seems to be to the 9m for boys & 8m for girls. Arthur B would know.

Definitely not doubting the youth sailing ability. Just curious on the current definition of IQ Foil Youth class in Aust, and whether it lines up with the international class definitions. Of course anyone under 19 could race with a 9m and be classed as Open division, but not classified as a Youth champion ????
Hi Darryl, I think as the class grows we will see the development of a youth class (85cm board and 8m Sail). At this regatta we classified youth as anyone u19, no matter sail size.
Currently with my coaching I am progressing the majority of the sailors straight to the senior equipment ASAP as this gives them the opportunity to be competitive with the best sailors.
In the future when we have younger/smaller sailors then I think we have a more substantial youth class (85cm board and 8m Sail). However right now everyone just wants to go on the senior kit as it is still easy to handle in strong wind.
Tom is right this is a question for Arthur B.

Thanks for the clarification
Agree, based on the numbers probably best to go straight to 9m
Just wanted to make sure. I didn't want to recommend to a junior / youth an 8m sail only find them out gunned on race day.
Also couldn't,t find any Aust youth IQFoil guidelines, only the International IQ Foil youth.
Yes would be good to hear from Arthur / Sailing Aust, on their plans.
