Hi guys,

I'm going to have a road trip from Sydney up to the mid north coast of Nsw for the next 4 weeks, is it worth to bring my big gear? 7.8 and 130lt for some flat water fun? What are recommended spots? Otherwise I'll travel light just with one wave board and surf if the conditions will come.

every trip starts with the gear questions ??????

cheers

Woolgoolga back beach (Flat top) is the go to spot for S/W or anything from the south.Sawtell Island is great on a low tide for S/S/W to S/E .both are decent wave riding spots in coffs harbour , green point at Yamba (further north) looks incredible in a southerly also

If you get the conditions worth stopping at Hawks Nest on the trip up for flatwater/bump-jump sailing. Can be sailed in all
directions ideally from the south, westerly is great, can sail right across to Shoal Bay (about 3KM?) or super flat in NE but
won't get NE wind until spring.

Great Lakes area (Smiths and Wallis Lake near Blueys beach) south of Forster worth a look, may need weed fin for Wallis lake.

Boomerang beach is an excellent surf beach - Pacific Palms. South swell magnet.

There are numerous south wind spots if you get a decent southerly. You probably won't see any wave sailors until you get to
Port Macquarie or Coffs area. Port Maq maybe some wave sailors at Middle Rock south of Port and Sawtell further north.

South West Rocks can be sailed in all directions except I think NW although probably will get more W or SW this time of year.

I guess southerly winds most likely this time of year, on the positive side, if it's a good frontal system it can last for 2-3 days
and you can follow it up the coast if you have the time/interest.

Hope this assists.
