Saratoga Sailing Club turned on a cracker of a day for round 1 of the Raceboard NSW Series. Thanks to our sponsors Starboard/Severne and WSS Boards for the really cool tee-shirts. Great start to the event with 5 races in building breeze. Fully powered up on flat water in the sunshine, how good does it get?? Cam Harrison has a handy lead into tomorrow's racing with 5 bullets.

A light variable seabreeze struggled into Brisbane water allowing us to get in 3 races to finish off a great weekend. Many thanks to the crew of the Saratoga Sailing Club both on the water and off the water, fantastic hospitality! Many thanks to our sponsors Starboard Severne and WSS Boards.

Great competition in conditions from light & shifty to strong & reasonably steady. Welcoming & inclusive camaraderie; excellent hospitality, food catering at very fair price, and service by Saratoga SC's friendly canteen volunteers. Generous grassed rigging area; and some onsite camping. If we can make this an annual event, I'm sure Saratoga will grow a fleet of sailboards. Again huge thank you to Lissa, Richie & John for their event organization.
And Rhys, please don't thank me again for giving you that generous push start in Race7. I'm sure I'll be able to assist you again very soon.

Event 2 is coming up - Saturday October 12. The location is Georges River 16ft Sailing Club, Sanoni Ave, Sandringham.

This is NOT where we normally sail, so don't rock up to St George Sailing Club as it has been knocked down and the St George guys are running their races out of Georges River during the disruptions.
Where: Georges River 16ft Sailing Club.
When: REGO - 1230- 1300 BRIEFING - 1300
RACING - warning signal 1410. First Race at 1415, aiming for up to 3 races.

There's still time to join the series and secure one of the very cool limited edition series tee-shirt.

Round 3 was held on the Georges River today in a gusty swinging South Easterly. It challenged some of us a bit but Cam Harrison prevailed again, but the fleet behind him was mixing it up a bit. Rhys Herbert got a couple of podiums as did Rupert Henry pushing James Grunfelder down the score sheet a little.

Get ready sports fans, the next round of the 2019/2020 NSW Raceboard Series is on this weekend at Huskisson (Jervis Bay) which is being held in conjunction with the Sand & Sea Festival.

It's going to be huge with the first ever NSW Raceboard Heat that I know of to include a Downwinder. Given the forecast it's going to be Epic!

Round 3 at the Jervis Bay Sand and Sea festival is now over. As always Jervis Bay is just a great place to be. Unfortunately the weather followed the forecast, and Saturday was a blow out for us. A few GPS slalom boards did try for a nautical Mile speed challenge on Saturday but then all other events got cancelled as the wind increased. We got Sunday's program in. The Dash across the Bay was shortened as there were not planning conditions at that stage. That event had a couple of foiling kites, some foiling windsurfers, a formula board, raceboards and windsurfer LTs in it. The Foiling kites were first home followed by the foiling windsurfers and raceboards.

For the afternoon session the seabreeze filled in, Race 1 was pretty much a full planning race and for races 2 & 3 the wind picked up a bit more so that some people found their big sails a bit of a handful.

Well done to Cam, James and Richie filling the podium. Rob Bell was showing pretty good form with his new sail and improving as the day went on. Rhys Herbert posted two 3rds but was undone by an OCS. Newcomer to the class Jimmy Levy showed that we will have to watch out for him in future races.

All up there were 46 windsurfers entered in the festival.

Round 4, which is the State Championships at Marmong Point Sailing Club, is this weekend.

While it is part of the series it is a separate event requiring its own entry. Remember to indicate if you are coming to dinner on Saturday night so we get enough seats!
For entries and all the details see www.ausraceboard.org/raceboard-windsurfing-events#/2019-raceboard-state-titles/

Round 4 the State Championships at Marmong Point Sailing Club was held today. The wind was coming up the bay when we arrived there was the odd white cap, but it never really came in, as the day went on there was a few planing gusts but they didn't last long and it took a bit of planning to get in them. It is tight at the top of the results and there is forecast to be a little more wind tomorrow. Looking forward to some more challenging racing.

Round 4 is over and we have a new State Champion. Congratulations to Cam Harrison for a well-sailed series. There were a few other sailors trying to take the title with a few different faces winning a few heats but none had the consistency of Cam. We got 5 races in today, the wind direction was similar to yesterday, still shifty and variable but generally stronger. The 2 races in the morning session saw most of the fleet planing and the 3 in the afternoon session had some of the fleet changing down to smaller sails.

Round 5 at Kurnell is now all over. We had a medium southerly to play in, thanks to the Kurnell Cat Club for having us along with the Foiling / Formula crew. Final round is on March 21 at DAC.

Richie generously provided his AUS-368 kit for the day at Kurnell to visiting RB world champ Max. It was reasonably ideal conditions for the fleet to gauge their performance and gain further expert advice.
Perhaps Richie should receive 'average points' as compensation; considering also that the conditions would have seen Richie somewhere at the front of the fleet.

Thanks for the thought, but I wasn't going to sail anyway due to a shoulder injury. So I am using up a drop. If I was going to sail we had enough gear to get Max out as well.

The final of the NSW Raceboard series was held at DAC on Saturday, with a southerly wind bringing out all the charm of DAC...

The series was taken out in great form by Cam Harrison, with after drops, a perfect scoreline.

Thank you all for your support and looking forward to sailing with you all again next season.
