Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron recently held their awards night and the very prestigious WA O'Hare Memorial Trophy for Junior Yachts Person of the Year was presented to a Windsurfer.
Congratulations Lara O'Brien. She also picked up the Vidgen Perpetual Trophy for best result at a National Regatta.
Lara O'Brien is off to the 2014 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships in Tavira Portugal this weekend to represent Australia in the Girls RS:X Windsurfing class. The event runs from the 12 to 19 July.
She follows in the footsteps of local windsurfers Joe Sterling (2009 Brazil & Turkey 2010) and Luke Baillie (2009 Brazil) who also presented for Australia in the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships on RS:X.
