insane photo thanks to bill.

heads up, medium range forecasts look the goods for this weekend. yeah I know, it is always a miss this time of year and the last few have only resulted in light winds.

but this one may be different. the system moving in is already dumping very large quantities of snow down south and that aside, I CAN"T GO SUNDAY!

I have never sailed the mouth before.
Are there any do's and don'ts apart from don't drown?
Thanks

I can't make it. I'm gutted.

I'm thinking I might be sick on Monday.

no problems there really other than just be careful on an outgoing tide. if it's a big outgoing tide and a decent swell running then I'd not do it unless you know the place real well.

all other times no worries. it's actually a cruise spot to sail. most think you need wave gear but slalom gear is fine as well because the area inside the wave zone is fairly flat.

we were there a few weeks back in a big southerly and as it got towards high tide it started to make you aware you were sailing there but other than that it's fine. in a pumping SE or S wind it's a different spot then in a westerly type wind.

in a westerly there is a wind shadow in close to bribie on the other side of the channel that will leave you with no wind.

it's not a big tide so reckon it'll be good up to before lunch.

on a slight tangent,

Saturdays forecast is NW winds. I've been eyeing off pincushion.

is anyone gonna sail it that could report back????

main swell is 2-3ft easterly on the forecast but the good bit is secondary swell is NNE.

I'm guessing but I think that would be true DTL conditions right in front of the caravan park. outgoing tide again.

Hey Justin, I wont be sailing Saturday at Pin cushion. And if you were curious today at the bar had a couple gusts up to 12 or so knots but then backed off to the point where it could not support a kiters kite. Nice wine and crackers weather.

It's looking like Monday am for the Westerly Justin. Might be better for you that day ;)
