Just wondering if anyone has experienced the difference. There's a significant price difference. Just wondering if it's worth the extra money for the Supremos?
Any advice appreciated, cheers.
When sailing barefoot the Suprimo,s rock.I really like the primo,s and when sailimg with boots or less frequently they are as good as needed, but when I sail day in day out barefooted like on holidays they start to scratch your feet. The inside of the Suprimo feels more like silk and keep your feet more in there original shape.
The Dakine Supremos are the best on the market, I don't know anyone who has tried barefoot with them that disagrees, however, can you get them? I have tried desperately to get them in UK (for my return to Oz) and was told there were problems with Dakine and they are now like rocking horse sh.t! Would be really grateful if anyone can tell me where to get them in WA or elsewhere. Oddly its only the outer neoprene that wears the inners are like new so just the outers would be usefull and cheaper surely.
I have seen some ION straps that have a similar folded over/flexible edge on the innner strap which could be as good.
I inherited some Dsakine's on a used board I bought. How do you tell which model they are?
The supremo's have a urethane like webbing (internally) and are incredibly soft on the feet whereas the Primo's have the standard hard webbing. Both have the same neoprene covers but the supremo's are worth their weight in gold. I recently grabbed some Primo's and the difference is noticeable but not that bad in comparison with the stock ones that come with most boards.
Thanks guys for the feed back. You sold me on the Supremos.
I have just been able to buy 4 from Dieter at Sunshine Coast Sailboards. He said he's still got a few in stock.
Cheers.
The Core Contours System are also really good for wave sailing.
I think you are correct they feel very secure but on a negative note they chopped my feet up bad after 3 hours of bump and jump, never had straps remove skin like the core contour straps did to me.
The Supremo's feel great, but I have a set that seems to have developed cracks in the plastic (urethane) near where the footstrap holes are. I don't know if this will let go, but that's the only negative I have noticed. (Other than the price!)
My Supremos split after very little use, but were replaced
very quickly by Dakine, other than that they are very comfy.
Also recommend Naish straps, i've got two Naish boards
and both sets are of straps are as good as the Supremos.
The Supremos are a tad on the heavy side if you care about that, but otherwise they are amazing, I think. I personally don't like the Core contours since I tend to get stuck in them at times. The stretch a tad and if you jam you foot in they can act a bit like a rubberband. The Supremos do not do that since they both have the urethane and normal webbing inside. This means they are soft and compliant in a nice way, more so than the regular Primos (that are still really good as far as "regular" webbing based straps go).
I have these on a used board I bought, they look new. If you want to swap for a standard set (preferably SB) of straps let me know. I have foot injury which doesn't like the wide straps :(
I'm in Sydney but can send.
