Hi Guys. I got these ION Harness lines. 30&34. Size doesn't matter. But the system is pretty interesting as you don't have to undo the boom to install them. However, I feel that I cannot get them as snug around the boom as regular system... Maybe have to pull way harder but still.. Wonder if you ever had any experience with these..? Your thoughts?
When lines are prone to minor rotation you know what happens... accidental hook-ins.. I wish they were reg system as I remove my lines from the boom like .. never
Hi Leto
I did the same as you when I first got them. You cannot get them tight if the lines are too close to the boom.
Try installing them so the webbing is flat on the boom (the lines are a bit further away) and you will get them so tight that you have to undo them to move them.
Chuck the ION Harness Line Set Fix Pro and get the Harness Line Set Fix.
The Pro model is meant for easy switching between booms .. but they end up with a chunky velcro connection .. the Set Fix is slimmer velcro connection but need to take boom end out to install.
Point-7 and I am sure others have harness-lines with a similar system point-7.com/product/fixed-harness-lines/?v=7516fd43adaa. The Point-7 are the only one they sell, so I would be surprised if you cannot tighten them enough on the boom ...
Thanks for advice. Actually was able to install them snug and pretty well.. I didn't even know that system existed when I bought them... they all looked regular fixed and I never cared to read full description.. So 30cm are this "pro" system.. 34s are regular fixed..
Used same approach as regular lines so instead of tightening while moving the velcro as far around as possible, I just attached it so the ION logo velcro is centered and then pulled hard up on ION logo velcro. Basically used same exact technique as regular fixed lines to tighten and it works fine..
comparing a Ion to a Dakine.....as in the picture. over the years i have only found a few brands of harness lines that are " stiff" on the boom and do not flop around. it has to do with how far up the stiff plastic tubing is sewn into the webbing that wraps around the boom. ( and boom diameter). Also the quality of the webbing that is used.
The dakines are stiff as they are sewn high up into the webbing , some other brand s have gap of floppy webbing between boom and start of tubing.
I know Ezzy and Dakine, Severe are stiff and dont flop around.
Not sure about Ion pro- i have had good results from the standard Ion lines
I've noticed that plastic tube OD on the ION lines I bought as a spare this year is smaller, 10 mm, compared to my 2-3 yrs old ones (and to some other manufacturers lines I have) which is 12 mm. A tad softer also
No ref to this on the product page, I was expecting to see some marcom on the benefits, like lighter, less swing weight,.
Inside rope dia, strength? time will tell
Pretty happy with their older lines so far, true length, easy to slide on the boom and not floppy
