Just came in today. Properly banged up in shipping, super lightly wrapped so couple of good dings on the grip. No fragile markings on the box. Potential mistake right there.
It's as light as any other skinny boom, 2.1kg with 34" lines attached. 1.88kg without, as stated on the website as well.
My GA boom, same size is 1.99kg, naked weight. Comparing to GA the Severne feels a tad bit softer just bending in hand, but I'm quite sure it makes no difference on the water. GA was becoming loose in the head....
Head looks fine, no shim but built for RDM only, good.
Nice big clamp lever so it's comfortable to operate in cold. Relief pattern underneath the sides of the lever for better grip is a nice touch too. Always liked the similar oversized lever on my old Aeron.
No nonsense outhaul as most of the skinny booms have these days.
No rubber bumps on the back end outer corners. Kinda nice to have em if de-rigging in a car park or on other hard surfaces.
Low quality ropes as seen on most other booms.
Production error on the bend of the backend of the boom can be seen on the picture. Not very reassuring I must say...
Let's see how it lasts.
My Goya super skinny 130-180 with 32 inch harness lines MFC is 2.01 kg(less than stated) and is strong as a rock after more than 30 sessions. Severne has to catch up..
Just to note, 140 - 190 I'm talking about there.
Goya I had too, left it to the bottom of the sea, hard to swim with it after all :D Was a fine boom too...
Exactly where on the boom are those voids, not that it really matters because that is a failure waiting to happen on a carbon product that is stressed in use. I have 3 Enigma booms with no such issues. I STRONGLY suggest you insist on a warranty claim and replacement
Good luck

On the tail end, inside, where the tube bends toward the outhaul. Oh boy am I tired of warranty claims on windsurf gear...too many times.
Highly unlikely this is a structural issue. Knowing how these types of components are put together, all the carbon will be there. A drop of epoxy & it goes away. This is an air pocket that has been trapped on the mold surface during the vacuum/curing process, a surface imperfection that has slipped through QC.
BUT, none of this is your issue. A new product should look new and that's not a good look for a new product. Be nice to the seller, hopefully they will be nice back and swap out the back end if it bugs you.
Here's a follow up. Got new boom in a week. Super nicely handled by the shop. New boom was shipped the next day, received it in a week, that's common delivery time over EU. The box was as banged and broken as the first time but extra bubble wrap in the box paid off. And production quality is all fine this time.
Faulty one waits to be picked up yet, all organised by the seller, as it supposed to be...
As being located in Europa in a place with no local surf store near by, all the stuff comes from online. From any one of the EU countries. So far everybody is willing to sell, answering your emails even in Sunday and what not but should it come to warranty that's where you learn, will you deal with the certain shop again or not. Maybe I'll do a review for some online stores and online buying experience at some point...
So here's a shout out to maximum-surf.de in Germany for a job well done!
