Rowan Law has a 6.2m OD Proto. I've tried it and its a complete piece of .....
Talk about unstable! Gap between the battens is too great causing a feeling of instablity, and the leech flutters badly with proper downhaul.
Course he can make practically any sail work.
Don't rate the OD in high winds but in light to moderate winds its light weight makes it a joy to use.
Good to see that a piece of sh... can work so well in 38 knots but itI'll let you know Pete how my new quiver goes when it arrives in two weeks
In 25-38 knots using a 6.2m is not a good idea for me anyway - especially for gybing!
Can just about hang on to a 5.5m in 25-30 knots. Above 30 knots I start heading upwind.
In 25-38 knots I'd use my Gaastra Vapor 5m with my 87 Sonic and Vector 30 EX fin.
That fin / board combo sucks the board to the water like no other!
Find using my 5m in those crazy winds to be much less tiring and more enjoyable than my 5.5m.
And I don't end up a km or so upwind when the squalls / gusts come in
A guy was using one in the slalom series on the weekend. I think he was from overseas. He went ok on it. :)
7.8 Reflex with a massive 222cm boom length. This sail is going to be awesome in light/med wind.

R8 6.2
Thanks Nigel. The R8 Reflex sails have been designed around the new Apex masts which have a slightly reduced diameter. For those using other Severne masts for a better rotation remove the cam spacers. As Glen pointed out in the Fox 105 board post.
I use the old mast on 7.8. Has anyone got the camber rotation working? I Removed the spacers on the two middle ones, but added the thicker spacer on both top and bottom cam, since they were barely touching the mast.
Felt that rotation was back on stage reflex 2, no R5 feeling whatsoever. Has anyone got the rotation working with the old mast, and how is it working with the new apex?
