Anybody tried this board??
I am considering the 79L as my high wind board with 3,4 to 4,0 sails. The given sail range on Simmer homepage is 3.1 to 5.0, but its 57,5 cm wide and that seems a bit wide for the smallest sails??
Me 78 kg, intermediate level, mostly bumb n jump conditions.
I don't think the sail range given by the manufacturer means much (despite sometimes being responsible for specifying them...). I have many specialty boards in my quiver, but almost all will handle my whole sail quiver from 3.4 to 5.0. About The Quantex, you need not worry about the width. At 78 kilos it is the Q79 is a pretty sweet high wind board. But what you should consider is that the Quantex is a wave board. So if you are after more freeride type performance, there are better boards out there. I did a bit of sailing on the Q79 in powered up 4.0. I'm 72 kilos myself. I was sailing an outside reef, so I had to do some open ocean sailing. I reckon it was quite good. And on the wave I had a great time. So if you're a high wind sailor that want's to fit the odd turn in, then the Q79 could be a reasonable choice.
Thanks for youre reply.
I already have a simmer cortex 90L which is 58 cm wide, so the difference in width is only 0,5 cm from the Q 79. I did struggle with the Cortex in the beginning (spinouts, not taking hight) I guess due to bad technique and being used to single fins. However after adjusting and getting used to the short length the Cortex is now my favorite board with 4,2-4,7. Very lively, nice to jump, turns and jibes tighth and in general has a fun feeling. But its a bit big for the smallest sails. I also like simmer for the footstraps with double screws and in my experience better build quality than some other boards I have owned.
There is no wave spot close to were I live (West coast, Norway) but we do get alot of wind. In the future I hope to travel wave spots like Jaeren and cold Hawaii in Denmark.
The price om the quantex on offer is good, I will probably buy it.
OK, maybe. I thought the Flywave is more of a pure waveboard (?). Anybody using the flywave as a high wind board? I guess the 78L could be an option, but buying a new board is veeery expensive. The Quantex 79 is used and affordable.....
If I'm not mistaken, Alessio Stillrich (Simmer Style rider) is using most of the time his Flywave at Pozo Izquierdo, his home spot, well known for its strong winds.

I own a Simmer Flywave 72 2023 and I am stoked and surprised. When I saw the shape of the board, at once it became a must have. I have been on many good and very good boards and brands (not so good for my pocket and marital life though). But as we say in my surroundings-pleasure has no price... It was not an easy decision trying Simmer- there are no big shots riding the brand, no high rankings despite it's truly legendary heritage. But I leaped. I consider myself a hi wind sailor 72 kg- 25-35 knots range. Beneath I don't bother and wait and wait. I love logo high waves but hate float and ride and wind lulls. Windsurfing starts with homogenous WIND and there must be some physical aspect of it. My biggest sail is a 4.5- with the Simmer Black tips I went down to 4.2. My quiver 3.1-4.2-amazing sails but this is another story. At first I was skeptical about the wide tail but their shaper Ola H said that it looks wide but is not actually wide...Anyway when I stepped on the board ( on-side on) I was blown away. Obviously the guy knows what he is doing. The board is very well constructed (weight is what the brand claims. This is an amazing achievement nowadays I must tell you.), pads, straps, non skid, fins excel. I love the blue color with neon patches. There are no blankers for the empty slots which is a bit of pain in the ass for such a costly purchase. I ride it only as a quad with K4 fins watching from Alessio. The guy is doing an amazing job promoting their wave gear with his you tube vids. He is not by every means always aiming for the top and this is the best part of it- making the brand a bit laid back, closer to us mere mortals but willing to spend cash.. But do not get me wrong Simmer is always watching from a distance.. Remember Victor Fernandez started his way to stardom from Simmer. Marc Pare also. Actually he is behind the Flywave story. I recall watching an interview when he went to Fanatic...Duotone.. whatever.. he asked the shaper to tweak his boards in a way that he actually had the flywaves again but with the Fanatic logo..he-he.. For 2023 Simmer has truly stepped up the game lets see what do they have for next year, this is what I can say. Hopethis helps to anyone interested. No wind btw on the Guru..
Thanks for all advises. I have bought the Quantex79.
Its hard to find user-review on simmer gear. Anybody knows were these board are built? Is it also cobra fabric? Would love to read more opnions on simmer gear...

They are made by Kenetic and in my experience much better built than anything from Cobra.

Kinetic made boards have way better craftmanship than Cobra. As far as I remember another brand that produces in Kinetic is AV boards. I have seen cross sections of boards from both factories- you could easily distinguish Kinetic from Cobra - color of PVC foam, copious use of central and t stringers (Kinetic). On the outside- pigment, gelcoat, non skid.
Today my new toys arrived. Could not resist the black friday deal. 3 blacktips 3.4, 4.0 and 4.7 and a 92 flywave 92. Amazing stuff. The 92 almost looks like a 87 or so. Small thin rails etc. Not bulky at all. I am 85 kg hope to use it with 4.7 and 4.0. I wonder if the 3.4 will work on this board.
