The rockets used to be longer and narrower, which to me was my preference. Personally I'm not into the wider version.
The standard Rocket got wider, the Rocket Plus got narrower - is there a point in having two?
2016 version of 145 is 76cm wide.
Now the 125 is the same width, and the 145 is 79 cm.
Not just Tabou ,there's hardly anything of anything ,you need tp pre order to get it ..then wait
Judging from what I see like sales discounts online, Tabou is in hard times. And not only Tabou. I saw an interview with Francisco Goya- apart from the usual cheerful Aloha stuff, one can feel the anxiety- there is no mass desire for spending 900 euro for a 4.0 wave sail or 3000 euro for a 75 l board. Word on the street is that the plan is to finish off slowly windsurfing in the name of foil derivatives....

Is that stupid street?
Looks like most of the stock goes to Europe or they have just been smarter in putting in orders early. Not a surprise given windsurfing is still booming there so that's maybe where most of the money is made from these days?
Stocks in WA are definitely better than last season if you ask me but you have to plan for your gear breakages and order in time still

Really spray blaze - they see no future in windsurf ? word on who's street ?
I think there will be a come back from foiling. In my case I've switched from windfoiling to learning wingfoiling but I never left and will never leave wavesailing

Hi seabreezer,
?ne need not to be a rocket scientist to see what happens around. In my personal cosmos at least 70% of the devoted windsurfers(most of them intermediate and above level) switched to kite and now to kite foiling, wing foiling, surf foiling. The young dudes are nearly 95% into all these. Windsurf foiling- no. I don't know why. Maybe because it is somehow related to this archaic word "windsurfing". I can hear and see that people are asking ,buying, looking for bargains, second hand etc. for wings, kites, foils. A couple of years it was mostly about windsurfing gear. Gone are these days.. I can speculate on that if in the mood but I will leave it here. Writing this I remember of a You tube interview with Peter Thommen where he predicted that shift is coming in the wind/water sports..
Personally I do not complain. Everyone is free to do whatever he/she likes. I am staying true to the brotherhood of wave sailing( board, fin and sail). Cheers!
No problems what so ever... i am with Tabou and do support work and the way we ,and all the other brands for that matter, did release the new gear in the past has changed a bit.
The release will be more spread and so is the production for a board line.
For example , you schedule Cobra in in September for the Da Curve line for a couple of weeks... and do it in Februari for the Da Bomb line etc etc.
Other brands do the same but on a differant fabrication line or a differant date.
Everything is become more expansive, labor , materials , shipping etc etc. Also for Cobra
And to be honest it was quite crazy to put year after year a full new '23 line up on the market in July '22 but that is my own personal opinion
iwndsurfing is sometimes considered almost dead by outsiders?
I don't see it that way. The figures from the VDWS are very constant, more than 30,000 basic certificates are sold annually. There are people who stay with windsurfing, but don't buy their own board. You can also see that the rental centers have become bigger and bigger. There are over 300 boards at a Rene Egli Center on Fuerte.
Is this perhaps a general trend towards sharing - renting instead of owning?
This is certainly a trend. I once went on a trip to the ski industry as managing director of a ski brand for three years. The ski market is huge, but even there it was clearly seen that the trend is towards borrowing. In some cases, more ski boots are sold than skis. Because people want a suitable boot, but rent the ski for the respective conditions. Sometimes one for deep snow, sometimes one for the slopes.w
Was SUP like your lifebuoy?
In any case, the increasing sales with SUP have helped us on the one hand, but on the other hand we have never forgotten our roots - windsurfing. If you ask me today what the windsurfing market will look like in ten years, then I think I can give you a relatively good picture, even including numbers. If you ask me today, what will SUP look like in ten years? - Difficult. What will the new sport Wingen look like in ten years ?DIfficuilt ....

It's the manufacturers choice to release new models every year and put pressure on themselves.
And competing amongst themselves who will announce it first.
Some models just work and don't need any improvement.
The Rocket being an example.
Some improvements make them worse actually.

I can vouch for the Rockets awesomeness. I use mine in so many conditions with various types of sails its amazing and always quick. Mine is a 2016 version.

I don't know, windsurfing has been pronounced dead for at least fifteen years and it is still here. Kiting, and kite foiling, seem to be on a much steeper death spiral, I see zero kites in some spots in the Bay Area. Everybody is on wings, will see how long that lasts. But I agree, I don't particularly care about what people are using to be on the water (as long as it has no engine!)
Hi, I am new to foiling and recently bought a tabou air ride foil and a starboard super cruiser foil. We had trouble finding the correct screws but found something that fitted tight. And when I went to go try it the bought lifted up and made a sound which ended up with me nosediving straight into the water. I flipped the board over and saw the rear screw had fallen out and the mast of the foil was angled forwards. Back at the beach we tried different screws and none seemed to work. Either too long and the foil came out slightly or too short and the foil would come out completely. Does anyone know if the board and foil are compatible?or what is causing the issue? Thanks

It sounds like it may be a Metric/Imperial issue rather than length. You can get a 1/4" bolt partway into a 6mm Metric socket, and vice versa, because the first few threads are around a lesser diameter, but it'll go only partway. It may feel like it's snug but it's barely engaged at all and will release as you've described. The Starboard (if you bought it new) should be M6 Metric. However, in USA lots of guys convert the plug to 1/4"/20 pitch for easier resupply.
