DSC is holding a discover sailing day on Australia Day starting at 10.00am This event is part of the discover sailing programme being held across the country at different sailing clubs. We have been invited to participate so I will be bringing along the WT learner gear. If you know of anyone whom may be interested in learning to sail this will be a great opportunity to have a go. People can register online or on the day at the club. discoversailing.org.au/program-finder/,/ http://www.foxsportspulse.com/assoc_page.cgi?c=1-10541-0-0-0&sID=336726

Thanks for that Paul.

After the huge success of last weekend I'd encourage everyone to come along.

Even for Yoda, with large numbers of padawan windsurfers, overwhelmed he may become.

I will be there with a bit of gear. Maybe even a race in the afternoon?

Had a slow start to the day with the breeze not coming in but it eventually did about 2pm at about 5-10knts. About 7 newbies had a go with 4 really keen to continue the journey of windsurfing. About 30 people showed up at the club over the course of the day having a sail on the cats, dingies and sailboards. Big thanks to Clarence for coming along to help out for the day.

Hey Paul, there was a lot of waiting for the wind today and you personally have spent a lot of time promoting windsurfing to learners this summer. Awesome work Yoda. They couldn’t have had a better instructor!!

Although a lot of the morning was like a millpond, the afternoon was about as good as it gets for learning.

At one stage all the boards, including my Start, were on the water for half an hour.

It would be good to do some saturday arvo racing, either with the dinghys, or only windsurfers if we get enough.

Paul and I have joined as casual members. It is a great little club.

We'll just have to make sure Jason is limited at 6.5m sail in any future races so the rest of us have a bit of chance .

Well done Paul and others.
Nice clear water at the Leven that's my home club and I didn't even know it was on.
I could have loaned you a long board I still have in the shed.
That spot is where windsurfer racing began in early eighties we had up to 28 starters in some races back then. The club was down to two or three dinghies and a couple of cats we just about took over.
Oh the memories

Issaac Mearns organised to have the gear up there for a couple of weekends, he mentioned that a few of the younger sailors would like to get there name on the plaque with yours on it one day. Must have been awesome sailing there in the eighties with such a large fleet. Seems like a great club to be involved with and there was a lot of interest in getting some windsurfing back on the calendar. I mentioned to Isaac that if he wants to invite windsurfers to an event there would be a few of us with longboards that are pretty keen to have a race up there.

Rusty would it be worth putting the club in touch with Jock at the RYCT? Just a thought

I did mention Jock and the success they have had at RYCT with the techno class to Isaac. Definately something that would be good to set up at Leven and Deviot in the future.
