WWA is pleased to announce that Gallows Electrical are on board this year a title sponsor for the Margaret River Wave Classic 2019. The event will take place at Surfer's Point on either 9th or 10th February (aiming for the 9th in the first instance). The prize giving party is hosted by The Common in Gnarabup on the night of Saturday 9th and entry is free.
It's always a great event to enter or watch so get over to the WWA site and book your place now. We will aim to run a dingo style competition (the WA version of the dingle system) so everyone should get to sail at least 2 heats. Full details of the heat format, which division is which and competition schedule is here windsurfingwa.tidyhq.com/public/schedule/events/19897-gallows-electrical-margaret-river-wave-classic-2019
Please try and book your tickets in advance as it really helps us with the organisation if we know who's coming .
The SW Junior Windsurf School will be holding a raffle with some great prizes from Severne/Revolution Boardsports, Retravision, Yallingup Maze, Carpe Diem Vineyards, The Common and Juice Print.
True Spirit Photos will be also be there to catch all the action.
And once again a massive thanks to Gallows Electrical for their support!
With the current forecast there is a possibility that some or all of the competition will be run on the Sunday. We are keeping a close eye on the swell that is due from Thursday to Saturday to determine if there is enough to compete. We are also working behind the scenes to ensure everything is in place if we do hold some or all of the comp on the Sunday. We will keep you all updated with the decision in the next two days.
One thing that is certain is there is still a party at The Common on Saturday night and the SW Junior School raffle with prizes from Severne, Retravision Busselton, Yallingup Maze, Busselton Holistic Health and The Common.

It was the windiest Margs event for sometime. Head judge Jason called the Sunday and he made the right call. We had over 20 knots from the first heat at midday and it did not stop all afternoon. Waves were up to logo high at times and with the strong wind we had 2 waves and 2 jumps to count. Over 40 competitors and a total of 22 heats run in one afternoon with everyone sailing at least 2 heats. There were plenty of current and former PWA stars out there too including Jaeger Stone, Boujmaa Guilloul, Justyna Sniady, Karin Jaggi and Jane Seman
Many thanks to the following:
Jason Mathews who took on the thankless task of weather guru and head judge and judged all 22 heats over the 6 hours.
Tim, Michelle, Jack and Sophie Brazier who did timings, flags, judged and towed the trailer.
Maeli Cherel, the artist behind the poster.
The Margs crew, Jane, Serge, Jacko, Ricky, Ash and Ian who sweet talked the The Common to letting us back (more sweet talking may be required again next year) and helped set up, pack down and ensured the event ran smoothly.
The Common for putting up with us destroying their windows (again), sorry.
Water Patrol Australia for keeping us safe while freezing their butts off on the jet skis all afternoon.
Owen from Gallows Electrical for sponsoring the event and also helping out with a fair bit of judging.
Severne Sails, Retravision Busselton, Juice Print, Yallingup Maze, Busselton Holistic Health and The Common for donating prizes to the raffle and Carpe Diem Vineyards for the winners' wine.
There are some photos from Nic Hess on the WWA Facebook page and Gordon from True Spirit Photos is currently editing hundreds of photos and they should be on www.truespiritphotos.com in the next few days.
