Love the footage.
what's the rock shelf like to walk on? Looks expensive?
Cheers mate,
The rock shelf is a little bit annoying, if the tide is low it's a bit of walk, the plus being the rocks are rounded and smooth mostly. Not all the spots are like this, some are pretty much just sail off the beach. Kina Road where this was filmed is probably as bad as it gets. I wore booties and it was fine the main worry i had was stepping into a crack and twisting my foot or something.
Awesome vid Paul as always mate...a shame you didn't score much wind or some southerlies to sail Pungarehu. Epic weather for filming though and I'm sure the craft beer and NZ hospitality made it for it!

Haha, there was wind in Pungarehu on the first day (Thursday), but they climbed the mountain instead of going sailing :-D :-D :-D

Yeah yeah rub it in! Wish someone told US!!! ha ha
Kiaora bro,
It's a great video, the Naki has so many locations but only a few sandy beaches. Most spots have large course black granules (rocks).
I couldn't use booties just not the surf feel and you will eventually get tougher skin, some would sail out with booties but take them off out the back.
Most spots are right foot forward waveriding and there is a bit of local knowledge and a bit of driving will get you plenty on water time especially if you surf.
