Hey folks,
Struggling from being out for the whole summer with a broken foot and lisfranc injury, and with many locals fed up with bay chop and craving some wavesailing, I joined the boys for some fresh sea air on a road trip to Woolamai Beach, Victoria and sat behind the camera for a few hours.
Despite not being able to sail, I was drooling at the wavesailing action going down and so have put together an edit featuring teamriders from Zu Boardsports: Andrew Hocking (blue Severne & ultrakode) and Joel Ryan (Duotone and stubby) and local sendit commentator extraordinaire Derek Chong (red severne and nano83) plus Mr Paul "Irish Love" Hurley on the Goya), Jono and others.
May have enough footage for a follow up vid (part 2). Enjoy!
cheers,
Andy Ackland ("Nackers")
Looks a fun spot ,how often does that happen?
Good to see not many kites out unlike wa.
It gets quite a few easterlies but this was an unusually small day (0.8m swell) so prob doesn't look like this too often. Woolamai is a real swell magnet and is often 4-6 foot+. U can see how narrow they run the swimming flags even on a small day.
Yep, easterlies kill the swell. Never sailed it as it's always too much fun at Invy and I can't be stuffed doing the 1/2 hr drive . Glad some of you scored, great video too
Great vid of the local crew ripping at this sweet spot! Got to get down to this amazing part of the world at some point this year!
Watched this with my 4 yr old who said she was impressed how well they drive on the waves but felt sorry for the man who got squashed by the waves.
Ok, I've made a sequel...Part 2...as had fair bit of spare footage. This was back in Jan. Hopefully can remind us summer will be back, despite the windless winter woes !!
