Hi all,
A special mention to the windsurfer who tried to hit me numerous time with his board on the water today. Hating kitesurfers to the point of trying to hit them is an horrible attitude that we should never see on any spot. You should cover your self with shame for the lava flow of insult coming out of your mouth,. But trying to hit people is a very different game that will take you either to the hospital or to jail one day.
Shame on you, man, I have never seen anything like this in 40 years of riding.
Pop corn is in the microwave, my guess is kite friend failed to look..... I maybe wrong
Edit; I am yet to meet a windsurfer in 40 years of sailing that would resort to violence without alot of provocation.
You know, I certainly screwed up like we all do and I always apologize for that. But cutting in front repeatedly, going for the crash on opposite routes at full speed is just unacceptable. When I stopped to tell him to come down and enjoy the ride, his face was hysterical. All I heard were 50 FU AH screamed out of his head J you can only laugh at it, but then the chase started again and became even worse, I gave up. The last one could have been dramatic. This guy doesn't understand the consequences of his acts. One day when he kills someone maybe he will get it. In the meantime, he is the shame of the community, lucky for the rest of us we are not like this.

That's all folks
Did you stay downwind of Dutchies? I was sailing that day and saw a few Kiters mixing it up with the sails.
The point is, provoking a collision is unacceptable, Mr Keen. Everyone gets it, well almost everyone.
Yes, Ken, South of the groin. The wind was too southerly to ride up North.
Was it too southerly to sail at any other beach in perth apart from Dutch inn? The one small strip that windsurfers use regularly?
What's with Kiters coming here to have a cry?
If he wanted to run into you he would have, it wouldn't be that hard. Sounds like he was just messing with you, also sounds like it worked.

Isn't he "slightly chubby shirtless guy"?
Speaking to riders on the beach afterwards there were a few frustrated windsurfers out there after some of your actions. I could tell you didnt mean any harm, you were just having fun but didnt really understand how the wave riding flow happens.
A bit like a puppy dog running around on a main road.
Right of way, every one tries to place themselves so that wave action is maximised. Its not easy to work out when you start off.Half decent days are rare in this spot so everyone is pretty amped when they do happen and we want to make the most of the conditions. Please try and understand how the flow works and you will find every one is pretty cool in this sport.
We nearly crashed too but I was having too much fun to care and i wish you well!

I hate agro on the water, it ruins it for everyone and I'm not justifying his actions, but perhaps if he was mad you were doing something wrong and should have changed how you were kiting or moved elsewhere. Kiters and windsurfers rarely mix well. Best to have separate areas or just be really aware of the people around you.
I'll just leave this here: kiteboardingwa.org.au/locations/cottesloe-dutch-inn/
I would to trad particular attention to the section that read: "Stay clear and give way to all swimmers & other water users, includng all windsurfers at Dutch Inn."
That should settle the debate.

It's even a bit more specific in the Direction on the Kiteboard WA website
"Approx 12kms West of the CBD in the suburb of Cottesloe. From Cottesloe, head South along Marine Parade. Kiting is restricted to between Rosendo St and Princess St"
From my point of view, windsurfing & kitesurfing just do not mix. There are kitesurfers who get it, know and obey sailing / wave ring rules and look before they leap. However, all it takes is one show boating fool, who doesn't give a sh?t, to stuff it up for everyone. Segregation is the only solution to safe guard against these fools.
Segregate just the fools?
Knowing John, Pretty sure he means all.... when has a fool kiter ever put his hand up as a fool
certainly none of the ones I've experienced over the years ! Always take great offence at being told that they're out of line / dangerous / lack common sense / not looking....you get the picture. Not to mention the ones up north that flick back onto a wave when heading out, just as you are lining up ......
