Just wondering if anyone has experience repairing softskin boards. The rail tape is lifting on this RRD. Want to repair it for the kids before it gets worse. Hope someone knows what would be the ideal adhesive?? Cheers, Richard
Don't have experience so others might have better ideas but I expect that contact glue, similar to repairing deck pads, works well. Selleys Kwik Grip worked great for foot pads in my case. Spray both sides for a permanent fix and follow directions so that it's tacky before joining.
Selleys All Clear sealant is also great for these type of repairs. I've re-stuck EVA deck grip & foot-pads on various kite-boards over several years, using it like a contact adhesive. Hardest part (for a really good repair) is cleaning off all the old powdery adhesive which impairs bond for any adhesive.
Thanks for the responses!
All Clear is something I hadn't considered. It may be better in this case as it will be visible (rail tape is almost transparent). Will let you know how I get on.
Update. tested a small area with Aquaseal + Neo, neoprene wetsuit glue, with great results. Chose this because I had it on hand and I'll never use it all before it dries up. Very easy repair with minimal prep, excellent adhesion, and flexible finish on a soft board.
