For those who may have missed the post on SBYC facebook page, racing for this weekend (9th/10th dec) has been canned owing to a risky looking forecast. Yep, there are green arrows on seabreeze, but the forecast switch to seabreeze direction from easterly will more than likely kill the wind all together based on previous events.
Stay tuned for info on next weekends "sleigh the bay".
Folks forecast for this weeks scheduled safety bay slalom (saturday 23rd) is looking good so far, so at this stage we're looking to go ahead with it.
There maybe a later start to match the forecast, will keep you posted.
Wind is still looking good for tomorrow so earliest possible start will be 1:30pm. We may delay it a bit more if nexessary to let it fill in properly.
Thanks to everyone who came down for a great day out on the water today.
Next event is Boss of the Bay on January 20th. Stick it in the calendar, as we need to put the kites back in their place after last year. Wish everyone a merry Xmas and a happy new year from the crew at SBYC
Yes, there will indeed be racing on at SBYC this weekend.. but note, it will be on the Sunday (4th February) rather than the Saturday.
usual game plan, we're hoping for a slightly earlier start time, but not likely to see a start before lunchtime.
Sorry for the late notice. if anyone missed the bookface postings, the scheduled racing this weekend has been cancelled due to a lack of wind.
not having much luck this season unfortunately.
Folks, unfortunately with most of the predominant volunteers having other commitments this saturday the planned slalom racing won't be going ahead. We will be running the final race day for the season on March 23rd (wind permitting). Stay tuned for further info.
Unfortunately the wind gods have let us down again
owing to a lack of wind we've had to cancel this weekends scheduled slalom.
No slalom racing anymore at SBYC. The only racing this year will be at Cervantes as its too hard to get volunteers to put on the racing etc from what i hear.
The committee have at this stage decided to put racing at the club on a hiatus for this season.
This is owing to us struggling to find volunteers, and current committee members and volunteers needing a break. The club will still be doing hall hire in the interim, but with the falling number of participants in both windsurfing slalom and twin tip racing, the committee will assess the clubs future in the new year. This is also in part due to the councils plans for the clubhouse in the near future.
looking forward to Cervantes
Thanks for organising it. Really well run.
It's an unfortunate situation with volunteers everywhere. Not enough people ready to put in time and effort, and those who do, get burnt after a while.
I blame it on the way we live today.
Communities completely disappeared from the cities, people work long hours and don't have any spare time...
I really enjoyed the few days of racing at SBYC that I could make. Hope it can continue at some point. Thanks again for those that made it happen.
What happening with Boss of the Bay, will that be run in 2025?
Not that im aware of. The only racing will be Cervantes it seems.
