Hi everyone, I am planning a two-weeks windsurfing trip to WA in January. The plan is to fly to Perth then use Geraldton as my base of operations. Does anyone know if it is possible to rent windsurfing gear (board and sails, wave or freewave) for 1-2 weeks in Perth or Geraldton? Thanks!
Geraldton is probably a good base. Unfortunately there are no off the beach set ups in WA like what exists in other windsurfing meccas. You could try Jez at 2nd wind sailboards for rental, I believe he used to do that sort of thing. But can't give any guarantees that that's still the case. 2 weeks is probably too short a trip for it, but you could hit seabreeze buy n sell, and buy a board and sails, then sell on exit. You'd have to bring the smaller components with you, but yeah, two weeks is probably too short a trip for that.
It's best to bring your own gear if you can. If that's not an option, Paul at Revolution board sports might be able to help out: www.revolutionboardsports.com.au/

If you do bring your own gear, the forecasts for most of the windsurfing spots, are usually pretty good for up to 7-10 days out. If you are limited by weight (money) then you could choose the gear the night before.
... when I wrote "forecasts are good" that applies if there aren't any cyclones around the northern parts of WA. If so, then forecasts are only good for 2-3 days out.
I have a few rental waveboards and normally a larger freewave or two
