Does anyone know how the F one HM Carbon 14mm mast holds up for heavier (85-90kg) riders?
Is it on par with other brand HM Carbon masts (Axis, AFS etc) given it is a lot thinner?
All the reviews I have found are from lighter (70-75kg) riders and from experience I know weight can play a big difference when reviewing a mast.
I'm 83kgs and have had about 10 sessions on it and am loving it. Only the alu mast to compare with though. Much stiffer and slippery through the water. Lighter for jumping. No complaints. Unfortunately have been out of the water since October with an unrelated injury so not had as much sailing as I'd hoped by now.
I'm 86kg.
I rode the HM14 on a demo and it was nice. My daily driver in big to small conditions with 650-1050 foils is the AFS UHM 12.8mm and it has no issues with my weight or big wingspans. So, I'd expect the F-One to be just fine for ya.
I'm working on a mast article right now. All data collected points to thinner being faster, better glide, and if you are winging, lower heart rates. So, you'll love it!
98kg, riding the Sk8 1050 on it is just fine.
Have you ridden any other HM Carbon masts to compare it's relative stiffness? I'm keen to see how it compares in stiffness to known decent HM masts like Axis, No Limitz etc given how thin it is in comparison.
Thanks all for the helpful replies so far
It is plenty stiff enough. I am 102kgs and jumping with it no problem. Pushed it over 30 knots kitefoiling at sea too. Using the 95cm version.
I have used stiffer masts when I was windsurf foil racing. I have used less stiff masts. The F-One mast is plenty plenty stiff for anyone winging or kitefoiling.
Flexy wobbly mast if you use it with wider span foils like jam 1900. They must release stiff UHM mast.
