Hi folks, what's your recommendation for an 80kg rider looking for a board to jump (for rotations and flips), please?
The reason I ask is that not long ago people went for really small boards (liter wise) and suffered quite dearly due to difficul on getting on foil - or having too big wings for the conditions. So what's the current verdict on what board measurements one would be happy and to not need to compensate too much with the bigger wings. Smaller wings are more nimble for tricks obviously.
Thanks very much!
What foil system are you already on?
I am still learning to spin (not a priority) but can pop and jump pretty high on flat water which is a good foundation. Fear of landing all twisted is holding me back from progressing.
75kg, 55L duotone sky SLS, axis HPS 830 (~1000cm2, AR 7) goes well for pop and landing recovery for me. I spent some time looking at what Pros are riding in the comps and Instagram and it was pretty clear this board wouldn't be holding me back (which is reassuring when you are struggling to progress).
As a side note, at 75kg I really enjoy my NLv2 mast for reducing weight habging off the board in the air.

So what's the typical foil (area, AR) that the freestyle pros (that are not 55 kg teenagers) use?
