Has anybody tried the new 2025 North Mode Pro wing and compared it to the 2024?
I need to upgrade my well used 2024 Mode Pro and wondering if it's worth buying the new one?
The new mode pro has the shift lock system, which IMO are the best handles / boom currently available. What i heard is that the new mode pro has a bit better low end also. I have the nova pro's, very nice stable wing, really like it.
Picked up the new 2025 North Mode 3.5 and 4.2 with boom and yup..wings keep getting better. Have used both sizes now a couple of times and low end performance is incredible with this 3rd generation. It's like you're using a size bigger. The boom is a game changer, gives you full feel over the wing. And did I say the canopy is tight, though less of a locked in feel than 2022 and 2023 version, maybe got to do with the radial lay out of the panels? Loving the front handle too and yes this version behaves much better when flagged out than the older versions. Super impressed, can't wait to be on the water again..yeeeaaawwwww
Probably a bit late to the game with this review, nevertheless:
The tacking issue you highlight is why I keep buying Duotone wings - it is really hard to accept the crap tacking of other wings when Duotone do this so well .... BUT ... the new 2025 Unit they made the tack worse, so now I am looking around. I never had the issue you have with the canopy, My Duotone wings go two seasons. But the dump valves I have seen the problems you mention but only towards the end of the second season. So now I know the Mode PRO is not for me - I want a wing that tacks really well. Thanks for the review.
Tried the ozone wings eg flux or flow?
I've tried the flow, it tacks nice but it also feels heavy to use and doesn't jump very well. I suspect the Flux would be more my kind of wing but I've yet to try one of those.

I thought that wings had plateaued from 2023. But when I upgraded from 2022 SLS Slicks to 2025 DLAB Units, the improvement in tacking was simply shocking.

How do those Units flag?
Not sure why Duotone seems to get a pass on crappy flagging in a lot of discussions, it's always "better than the last version" "definitely improved" like with my 2024 Slicks which suck for flagging IMO (but great in most other ways).

I've never had an issue with how Duotone wings flag - the latest 2025 wing is more stable than any previous iteration and flags better than any previous Unit but I really don't care about flagging, my spot we get some wind blown swell but no waves as such, so flagging is way down my list of things I care about in a wing as I don't spend ages flagged out.
If you care about flagging then the new float is a dedicated wave wing with Duotone saying it will be the best on the market for flagging - so if that's what you want then that's the call rather than a Unit.
We have people at my spot who pick their wing based on how it flags - personally I find that absolutely nuts as you spend way more time working with the other elements of the wing than you do with it flagged (at my spot). There is also no doubt that the better you make a wing flag the more other areas of performance suffer - I'll pick ease of tacking over flagging every single time.
Any idea when the new float will be out?
I hear you about flagging
I do wing in waves and that's my focus but the reality is that even then maybe > 60% of the time is riding not flagged out...and 100% in the flat summer..so maybey emphasis on how stable it is flagging is misplaced..having said that the old units looked pretty annoying flagged out ie swinging from side to side

My North 2024 4.2 Mode is still crispy after two seasons of use. It's not a wing I'd recommend to someone learning to tack, but once you figure it out, it tacks aggressively. They've nailed the materials and quality in their wings. They actually flag well too in the waves. But if you're leaning to tack there's better wings. The Duotone, the Flow, Armstrong V2 and if you can't tack the Naish ADX, you can't tack yet, it's a ridiculous auto tacker. ;)

The Float is being ordered by dealers now - so it is in the March release for sure.

I don't have much to compare with. I never used the Slick SLS front handle. I do use the Unit's one. It seems to flag fine to me. And it hardly flips over. The SLS always did.
