Just wrapped up my review on the Aviator 18. A nice compliment to Carver!

Great review! Curious if you've ever played around with foostraps. I started using them when trying a 20" inflatable, because the rounded deck made it feel even narrower than my 21" hard board. Definitely gives back some of the leverage / roll authority lost in breadth. Obviously some tradeoffs (in the way / reduced freedom off foot location, injury risk) but narrow board + straps has so far felt like an excellent match to me. You have a million more miles than me so curious your impressions and/or if you've just wholly avoided them.
That's a great question and something I had never even considered so I appreciate you bringing up the idea! I've always been a dedicated strapless rider though. From kiteboarding to foiling I've stayed away from straps. #1 for me is the injury risk. I was kiting with a buddy who got a really horrific leg fracture when he couldn't get out of the straps and another who dislocated his femur/hip which was also terrifying. I think most people are probably fine with them but I just can't do it! As a result I end up enjoying the benefits of slightly lighter boards since I skip the inserts but if I could have a skinny board with powerful turns.... very interesting indeed!
