Is it me or tacking on a weak side, particularly for heel side tacks, is quite damn hard?
can do pretty much everything on both strong and weak side but tacking feels really unnatural on weak side. do people just tack on strong side or keep trying on both side?thanks for your feedback
I just got my tack down pat on heal side.. took a while. biggest take away for me was to lean in to the turn and wait a bit longer before switching hands
Tacking heelside seems a bit harder at first, but you'll see that it's maybe only a little harder than toeside, as long as you are on your strong foot forward (regular or goofy). Just keep going for them and ride the foil, not the wing. Takes a while but once you have them both you can get to the point where you rarely every mess one up on either tack.
I'm working on doing them switch now on both sides, meaning, I'm goofy and I'm working on them regular foot. But I need more time.

I heelside tack to my left and toeside tack to my right. I never bothered to learn to ride toeside goofy stance so my tacks/gybes into goofy stance always end with me in a heelside position. For my style of swell riding this has no negative impact on me as far as I can tell.

When time is critical, knowing to tack on goofy stance will help. E.g. tacking in a gust. The time switching feet could waste the opportunity. Other than that. no much I can think of.
I think that begin able to take on either side, with just your strong foot forward is enough... specially if you can switch feet quickly even in chop. The only reason to learn then week foot forward is to make you a stronger rider, or because you like the challenge... that's all.Lately, even when I'm SUPing, I'm switch my feet and paddle around with my weak foot forward. It can only help to make me more versatile. And when winging, I'll often jibe with my weak foot forward, to toeside, and ride around and carve for a while that way before jibing back the other way... it all feels slower and not super comfortable, but I'm getting more and more comfortable at it. And again, it can only help make me a better rider. I hope that eventually I can bridge the gap. I expect to also jump with my weak foot forward. I used to do it kiteboarding all the time, so I should be able to do that winging too.
