Im on the look out for beginner gear . Im 95 kg and almost 50. What size board , wing and foil would be ideal to learn on and any recommendations that might help . Should i look for a package deal or buy individually . Im a bit of a tight arse and dont really want to buy from the shops and dont mind banged up gear as long as it works. Any thoughts , Cheers
120-130 L board. Should be able to find used. For foil/mast I suggest to look to Armstrong. Lost of used HS 1850 and HS1550 gear out there on the cheap.
Not sure how much wind you have where you live but generally, it's easier to learn if you're relatively overpowered. So probably larger than 5m (unless the wind is really screaming near you). As long as you have enough power, I doubt there's a consensus on which brand/model is easiest for noobs. Ditto regarding booms/hard handles/soft handles. Just get something relatively large (1 M larger than experienced riders use at your spot) and inexpensive.

Just remember dont go so cheap you lock yourself into a system that you can not upgrade as you get better. Plus if you do buy a system like a Axis, Armstrong or what ever brand look at what new gear sells for, if you do love it and want to get some new gear you will know what you could be up for each time you want to buy something new. The more compatible something is the better for choice later on.
Wind wings, for this I usually would stay away from used but there are some good bargains out there if you can look and inspect the wing in person and know what you are looking at also helps. Wings over a year old used can be pretty bagged out and fly like siht. New is safer but can cost more.
