LOL. Do you honestly reckon the rest of Straya gives a flaming flamingo if WA secedes?

Go it alone. Knock yourself out. I'm 100% behind you.

Just give us all a break from ya parochial moaning.

Moaning? Me? A bonbon now? Why thank you.

Who's moaning? I was pocking fun at the whole sorry state of affairs down there but the usual suspects had to go and score vacuous political points.

I feel for those south of the border. They have a lot to deal with. Why not laugh along with them and cheer them up?

Maybe start another negative moaning topic about Labor corruption in HW. If it's therapy for ya, go wild cobba.

Leave the laughs to us over here.

Sorry mate... silly autocorrect... I would never wish to imply you were something sweet in a twisted wrapper....

Sure "pugwash". The same tired old delusion about other users here. Seems to have morphed into a collective delusion on an "industrial scale".

Maybe try more trolling and moaning on HW.

Surely there's more corrupt lollies to expose.... I, I, I mean pollies....

Hey tell me, did you actually find the Sammy J post funny?

wasnt that long ago your intelligent Vic premier was yapping on about SA...'why would you want to go there?'.... that came back and bit his ass real quick... exactly... Vic why would you want to go there?

"My premier"? Nah. Not even the right state.

But I do agree, Andrew's came across as a right royal tosser when he said that, kinda like the tossers who think the situation is political and had to wreck light hearted spin on a serious topic with cheap parochial politics.

What's going on down there? Its like there are a bunch of people that want to pass the virus around.

Maybe they should isolate parts of Melbourne as it sounds like some people are not taking it seriously.

What's the idea of not wanting to get tested? Surely its a small inconvenience for the sake of the health of the rest of the country?

There's a bunch of people spreading the notion that it's all a scam. And given that our human rights were impinged in the process, there's plenty who've become antiestablishment.
I'm not for one side or the other, but I certainly wouldn't like to test positive, be isolated for weeks, only to find out later that I actually just had a cold.

Which scenario is better for the country as a whole?

A) Joe Smith gets an antibody test and comes up positive and has to be isolated for 2 weeks, but he doesn't have Covid19

B) Joe Smith has Covid19 and is contagious but has refused to get tested and can pass it onto others

I don't understand why people are getting so caught up in this. Our success so far has made people apathetic to the dangers, and people are burying their heads in the sand.

Sure, no one wants to be in quarantine for 2 weeks, but no one wants to have the economy shutdown for 6 months either.

Its a no-brainer.

Here in WA, during the height of the lockdown it was still easy to keep your distance from others and still respect social distancing rules, and it didn't really impact life that much. Add to that a border that is pretty remote and easier to police. I expect that SA and NT are the same, with Qld not far behind.

With WA's population density, the R0 would be less then 1.0 without anyone measures in place.

Well, I think NSW would be similar if we all spread out and lived in Broken Hill.

It was amusing though that in 'Iso' I was walking along the beach here and perfectly legit. yet in NSW people were stuck at home most of the time.

I am a bit worried that people here will assume it is all good and that they needn't worry about it, which means that if there is a an outbreak, it may go unnoticed for a while. I hope that we get regular community testing as without it, something could sneak in. Even if not now, what about in 6 months down the line or 2 years from now?

Hope they get a more user friendly test soon..
I had one ( negative) and it wasn't fun..

A few weeks ago you said that if you got infected you wouldn't care about the rest of the country. You thought that your personal right to treatment outweighed any collective cost/benefit consideration. Now you say that some other person's rights have to give way to the common good. Why the change?

False negatives can obviously lead to terrible things.

I have received false positive test results myself... just meant I had to wait at the mine gate for more tests before they'd let me in

Senor Milk, I think I know what you are talking about, but I think you are mixing up a few things...

I have stated before that I think my life is the most important thing to me, so there would be/should be no limit to the cost to keep me alive. This was in the context of some other people arguing that at some point the cost of one person's life is not more important than the rest of the economy so they should be written off as uneconomic.

I never said "If I got infected that I wouldn't care about the rest of the country". Quite the opposite in fact. I was one of the people calling for an immediate isolation to try and tame this thing. I would happily do the time if it meant a return to normality, and I still agree even though I hate isolation.

No one has to give away their right (to life) for the common good. That is a mistake on your part if you think that is what I have just said. Sure, someone has to go through a bit of discomfort in having a cotton tip jammed up their nose and into the back of their throat, but as far as I am aware the test is not terminal.

The only change I can see is that your understanding of what I wrote is not quite right. If people are behaving like babies and trying to argue a painful swab up the nose is beneath them, then maybe they ought to remember that they are part of a society and as such need to do things that they otherwise might not want to.

I did and still do, draw the line at killing people or condemning them to death because its economically convenient.

Yeah, I saw on the news this morning the mention of the false negative results... but I guess if people don't want a swab in the nose, they will risk it..

You had to wait at the mine gate for more tests!! Unbelievable! I hope you told them it was all a conspiracy and that they were just sheep and that masks do nothing, and all that other stuff!

Maybe we are following the criteria being used in the US to define number of cases, this is why some are saying its partly a beat-up/hoax re the numbers. So once again who is to gain from inflating numbers .

So now the Vic. Govt is resorting to bribery to have the test by offering $1500.
What a wank , they should be jailing those who refuse to have the test to safeguard the public.

psychojoe, what about the human rights of those around the people that don't "want" to get tested? Do they have human rights? Do they have the right to expect their fellow citizens to take a simple test that will result in their health being less at risk?

What 'right' does someone have when it is a simple thing and can result in a much better outcome?

I want to take a dump right here on the footpath. It's my human right!

Human Rights is such a bullsh1t argument for lots of things people don't want to do. Its not like someone is chaining you to a concrete slab and making you work as a slave. Lets get this in perspective. Someone's whim that they don't want to be tested is impacting a much larger number of people who have the expectation that they can live in a society that tries to limit the spread of diseases.

I think this is another example of the era of 'I am special'. I am special because I don't want anyone to intrude on my human rights to be tested. This would make sense if the outcome of the test was to be exterminated after being sent on a train to a concentration camp, but its not. Its to be safely isolated for a few weeks with great healthcare, safety, and food.

I would suggest your allusion to this being like Auschwitz is a huge insult to anyone that had to endure that.
