Not ok. If people want your opinion or help they'll ask for it. Unless it's your kids or a family member, keep your mouth shut and let them live their lives.
That picture makes one think how sick we are ,
But meat tastes soooo gooood

There is no point in self analytical as far as food is concerned. Do lions and tigers self analysed before chasing that hapless calf? It is about respecting your food and the animals you eat, and above all, don't waste. Personally, I think eating and consuming way about what you need to survive is being disrespectful. But it is a society of plenty, innit ?

A society of waste at the very least.
Try this for breakfast daily. In a 1.5 litre bowl mix:-
1.5 cups plain rolled oats.
3/4 cup of chia seeds.
1/4 cup oat bran
1/4 cup pepita seeds.
1/4 cup sunflower kernels
1/4 cup cinnamon verum 4019 (adds flavour and very good for diabetics)
1/4 cup dried cranberries or goji berries (any red fruit is very good for you)
1/2 cup frozen blue or black berries
1/4 cup chopped pitted dates (yum)
Stir this lot up till as evenly mixed as possible and then pour in about 3/4 litre of almond milk and mix until you have an even goop. Cover the bowl with lid or cling wrap, place in fridge overnight to allow oats and chia to absorb almond milk.
...
Sounds yummy. I might give it a try.

Like I said, it is not overly flavoursome but it does have some taste highlights while eating it.
What I like about it is that it is quick, simple and easy and it keeps me going all day.
I need to qualify that by saying that I am 66, not working for a living, do not exercise as such but do remain fairly active working on my yacht going up and down ladders etc and maintain my real estate with mowing, trimming trees etc.
If you are a working trades person you will need to eat more than I do during the day.
I used to have porridge for breakfast but always got hungry around 10 or 11. With this breakfast that does not happen. I think it is because the ingredients are what you might call "super foods" and may be slower release of the nutrients.
Give it a go and tell us how you feel about it.
^ I have muesli habit (rut) and get a similar result vis a vis keeping me going. It's the oats that do that.
I like the sound of your recipe though.
I am 49 this year and still weigh the same since I was 39... 80 to 83kilos tops. For my height, that's ok.
Why?
I cut back on sugar.
SUGAR IS THE KILLER
I really believe this wholeheartedly
It's never ok to body shame. You never know people's situation nor is it any of your/our business in the first place.
Nearly everyone is already over critical of their own body and judges themselves, hell since my twenties I've slowly lost a lot of muscle mass and no where near as fit as I was 3 year ago (now 33).
I worked in the gym industry for 5 years and people would often come in with medical problems like thyroid failure for example where their metabolism turns to crap and they are forced to take pills for life to try and keep their weight to a minimum... not a great situation.
I've also had a mate split from his wife and spiral out of control, turning to food for comfort and nearly double in size over a year. Has his life back together now but fat shaming is the last thing he needed.

My thyroid hasn't worked for over 20 years, Hashimoto's disease, I take a thyroid pill every day, so what. I'm still in shape, just an excuse.
I work opposite a McDonald's.
Between the hours of 8 till midnight - it reminds me of a football stadium with hordes congregating from all directions. I'm seriously not joking,it's exactly that.
I can only think it's the taste. The vast majority are frequent visitors. The taste is obviously very, very addictive.

Its lucky that all humans are all exactly the same and respond identically to every situation. Just imagine if they didn't.

I've tried it for the last few days and it's a win. It's convenient and tunable. Before I was using flax meal for basically the same things that chia provides but it's a bit like eating pond slime. Chia's better. I might try it with tumeric and pepper.

Sadly you're missing the point. People can struggle with their weight for years, with no idea, trying every diet under the sun until they are diagnosed. And some medicines have the opposite effect and result in unwanted weight gain.
And for everyone that does fat shame, it effects more people than you would know (and just as many skinny people who fear getting fat).
My wife struggled with anorexia and bullimia for over 10 years, and still suffers from body dysmorphia to this day. She is a dancer and sadly the industry is plagued with fat shaming, regardless of whether the girls are as skinny as a rake. Their trainers create extremely bad habits and would pinch any ounce of fat they could find and tell them to work harder... "You are an athlete after all".
The wife is now so programmed to train each day, that she must complete at least an hour workout, rain, hail or shine and will feel sick to her stomach and self loathe if she doesn't.... All as a result of fat shaming.
So how about we just try and be decent human beings and leave people alone.

Sensible comments, CheaterFive. Beagle is prune to inflammatory smart-ass comments. I bet he takes great pride in being a prick too. But what can you do with such characters in an open forum? He is now beside himself because his hero Trump has won. But he is not really happy because he still carries on about Obama's birth certificate.
People are not designed to be fat. Only big, medium and small.
Obesity is a result of laziness of mind and body. Anybody can overcome it if they have, Dedication, Determination, Discipline and the Right Attitude which are the four ingredients of success in life.
It is a decision to do or not do. Simple as that.

Yeah, it sounds easy, but I think its not. I do agree that you need to make that decision though, and I think people underestimate how much dedication needs to be applied. Its not just a slight change, its a change to the way you live your life with diet and exercise.
I have a work colleague that is obese. Otherwise he is a nice guy, and at least at work he seems to eat moderate meals. He has obviously gotten to his size by going overboard though. I think he doesn't realise that eating 'normal' meals now is not going to shift the weight. Its just going to maintain it, which is not what he needs to do.
I can't imagine he gets out that much, so I am not sure its an easy thing. The weight traps him into a lifestyle that means its even easier to eat more and stay sedentary. I look at him and think the answer is obvious, but to him I am sure its more of a challenge. I think he has also reached a level where he thinks he won't be able to change so he just doesn't bother.
I think it can be like debt. You can get yourself into such a hole that it seems to far to get out. The reaction from people, the lack of attention or social niceties then just compound the low self esteem. I feel sorry for fat people and I don't agree about fat shaming. They might be the most benevolent and kind person, may have had two kids die together in a car accident, may have 3 crush d back vertibrae and a dodgy knee from an accident or something. **** happens. Who cares if they're fat, don't fxck them if your not attracted. And it's not just fat shaming. I always find it amusing that seemingly hetrosexual men point out if a bloke is 'huge' or are quick to make light of your lack of muscle or beer gut. If you have a mate that does this, rest assured that he is prison gay, and will be the first to drop to his knees should his life take an unfortunate turn and he ends up in prison
People are not designed to be fat.
But food is now "designed" to be. It's no longer grown but rather manufactured in a factory... Possibly next to where your boards are made.
It's funny people will often give advice but I wonder if anyone here actually knows their own macro and micro nutrient requirements, can produce the math using the energy balance equation to work out their daily intake requirements and have the know how to manipulate their macros to aid in weight loss?
What a terrible approach to eating you are advocating there. We are not battery hens, with inputs to be calculated for optimum weight gain.
It's pretty simple to control your weight by just being mindful of how much physical work you have done during a day. If you have been out laying bricks, you have spent enough energy to eat a big meal. If you spent the day in front of a screen, may be a tuna sandwich will suffice. There is no need to overcomplicate things.
For a longer term strategy, just pay attention to how your belts fit.

"For a longer term strategy, just pay attention to how your belts fit."
Possibly the most useful tool that we have to monitor weight fluctuations.
It is know fact that we don't have to eat everyday. Think of the day when we were hunter gatherers when your next meal depended on how good/lousy a fodder provider you are. Of course, weather and other factors also affected your potential of a decent meal. Look at the hunter gatherers in the deserts, do you see that many oversize folks?
With the abundance of food, and sadly, not all of this is healthy as fast-food and snacks tempt us via adverts. I recall that Bear Grill's rubbish show with dodgy characters artificially marooned on an island. These characters can't even find their way out of their own kitchen, judging by the way they fought each other and f-king around looking for food. Anyway, to cut a short story long, they were asked what would be their first meal like if they do get out of the island alive ? It was a "giant hamburger, double cheese, bacon stripes, and a super size milkshake".
I do believe we needed self disciplines and being able to differentiate healthy food from crap. I also believe self respect has quite a bit to do with one's weight. I bet we all sneak a quick glance at the mirror every now and then. If you see your bulge (above the belt I mean) is beginning to get out of control, you want to do something about it.
Believe it or not, I also believe SEX has quite a bit to do with how much you allow yourself to pile it on. In mining towns, I noticed there are many fat folks. I know because I work in the mining industry. In these small towns, far away from anywhere, there is less sexual competitions. Men is comfortable in the knowledge that he doesn't have too many competitors, and likewise for the females.
It's pretty simple to control your weight by just being mindful of how much physical work you have done during a day. If you have been out laying bricks, you have spent enough energy to eat a big meal.
But the calorie expenditure of laying bricks will vary depending on the users physical characteristics. And what one persons classifies as a "big meal" can vary greatly.... For instance a "small" Big Mac meal is already over the daily caloric requirements for the average Australian.... which will lead to weight gain.
Science also teaches us that it's easier to cut calories through dieting than exercise as sadly the human body does not burn calories anywhere near as fast as it can consume... So being mindful of how much exercise you do is literally useless if you cannot quantify what your expenditure is for that given day/week.
At the end of the day if someone was to take said advice they would be taking a large gamble on whether they would be maintaining weight or fluctuating.
My point is, if you truly understand your bodies requirements, you can make educated and informed decisions relating to food and control your weight.... Fad diets and "winging" it, is and will never be a good approach.
Last time I checked, bricks were all pretty much the same size, so take about the same amount of energy to pick up, butter up and lay on a wall. That's basic physics.
All I read from you is excuses for people to get fat. They find it too much of an intellectual exercise to manage to exercise a bit of thought and self control.
It makes me wonder if you think that they are stupid
Eat food that is less processed. I don't buy honey from the shop as it's likely been heat treated for easier handling etc.
When i go to Coles or Woolies i rarely buy food! Most food from the big two is guaranteed to make you fat.
I only buy 10 litres of Pureau water, cat litter, tins of salmon for my cat, shavers, cleaning products etc from there.
I don't trust the food from the big two. Likely not so fresh, not organic and possibly irradiated especially if it's imported.
I buy my fruit and veg from Spudshed. Not the best I know but it's cheap!
My treat is 50-70g of chocolate sultanas once every couple of days. You have to practice self control as your metabolism slows as you age.
As I get older I don't feel like eating anywhere near as much.
I live off mainly homemade veggie soup, cups of honey tea, fruit and some nuts.
As for takeaways,I would easily spend 100 dollars per week on them. Now,maybe a takeaway once per month.
An Indian veggie curry or Dominos veggie pizza each day soon adds up.
Cut my food and grocery budget in half in the last 10 years from 250 per week to just over 100 dollars!
Stopped buying chocolate as the temporary high was more than offset by the loss of my dollar
I don't get sick anywhere near as much as before. Weight is slowly creeping up despite eating like a bird.

I don't mean to pick on you, but I guess this is why diet is so complex. You have changed the way you eat, but you are putting on weight?
How does one separate the slowing of metabolism from the type of food and other factors?
Often people quote 'what works for them' but from where I sit this is only useful if they compare it with something that didn't work for them. If someone rattles off a list of food that they think is good for them because it sounds like it should be good, but there is no actual change, then how do you know if its a good choice or not?
6kg in the last 10 years,now 71kg.
Best advice to lose weight - don't shop at supermarkets!
Smorgasboard for the most part of poison.
And stay away from KFC,Maccas.Hungry Jacks etc.
No tin food, cheese, milk, cakes, white bread or rice. And definitely no margarine.
Its a 'secret' how 'they' are able to solidify veggie oil in to that.
I should add no chocolate too. FK me drunk, might as well be dead.
Recently had what I consider to be an aha moment with regard to diet.
Have been vegan, pretty much, for at least the past year and eat very healthily taking a vitamin B12 supplement daily. Never really had much trouble with weight before I changed but one thing which has been constant for as long as I can remember is the quantity of food which I ate. Pigging out basically.
Anyway about five weeks ago I purchased a colloidal mineral supplement from a health food shop. I had this nagging feeling that I was missing out on something because I was always hungry.
The results of taking the supplement were nothing short of astounding. I cannot say I feel any healthier or anything like that at all but the amount of food I am eating has literally plummeted. I have been making a green drink every morning for months which includes almonds, leafy greens, and fruit juice. This usually sustained me until latest mid morning when the hunger pangs kicked in.
Since taking this mineral supplement which I add to my smoothie, Life Springs Colloidal minerals, (and no I have no interest in it), I am not eating mid morning and have regularly gone without lunch as well. This is on top of starting a highly labour intensive job with an arborist.
My conclusion is is that there is something in the supplement which I was not getting enough of which was triggering hunger pangs resulting in pig out sessions, usually on nuts which I really like but are bloody expensive. Whatever it was it is saving me a fortune in food. Whilst the supplement is quite expensive, I think it was just under fifty bucks for 500ml, only 5ml a day is required so it should last me three months.
...so what. I'm still in shape, just an excuse.
...So how about we just try and be decent human beings and leave people alone.
