Greetings all,
I am in discussion with perth surf park supporters on the facebook.
They are under some serious resistence to build the park.
I have offered my skills as a guerilla campaigner to generate a petition which I am working on at current.
In the interim i beg of you to please like the perth surf park supporter page on facebook.
When you do this please also post rasputin in the comments.
I know all want this however I am trying to cut a deal if we get enough people tagged in that they generate a free day for a winner from people who sign the petition and those from seabreeze.
I dont know the details or how it will work out I also dont even know if this is something laurie would think of as an add. If so I apologise I just want the bloody thing built.
If ever you have read one of my posts and thought this guys is a peanut or alternatively felt sorry for my parents for having me this is the time to reach out and help me help you.
I dont care if you dont live in perth and just want to help.
Please I beg of you go on facebook perth surf park supporters page like it follow it and write rasputin.
Together some of us will be selected upon build and you can take it in turns to drop in and snake me for all the offensive remarks I have made about your wave riding vehicles moon hoax theories and other.
All comments welcome.
This is people power gents.
I could imagine it would be crazily overpriced and full of mega rich blowins. The que for a wave will be longer than a cottesloe close-out.
In saying that Im for it as it will create construction jobs ,long term employment and generate tourism.
Done Razz... Difficult to believe how close minded some people are. A quality wave park in WA would be massive for tourism as well as the benefit of the construction work. Buster is correct as well, could be crowded and overpriced initially but if it goes off like I predict it will, the gate is open for more facilities to follow.
Was already on the page, but added your critic message.
I really hope this park gets of the ground. For gods sake what is wrong with some people.
A friend of mine has been to the one in Wales, snowdonia, said it was great. Quite the opposite with crowds and parking, say 20 people for a session that's it, they just sell the tickets then it's full. Probably less crowded than a quarter full bowls club.
Yeah, but this is the home of the mining rich, where price is of no concern!
Build it and they will surf, family fortune be buggered.
They'll over-charge, see limited patronage, and fold. And us lucky tax payers will fund all kinds of related recovery attempts without being able to afford to surf it ourselves.
Can I take off my sceptical specs now?
I sincerely hope that I'm wrong.
So is this wave park like Kelly Slaters one or the one at waterbom in bali where you don't go anywhere rill ya fall off
I've surfed Surf Snowdonia. It was about $50 an hour from memory. Not cheap but with just two of us sharing a wave meant I walked away thinking it was good value. I really enjoyed the surf too.
I was really surprised how family friendly it was too - not just aimed at surfers, but the whole family. There was even a bus load of pensioners who stopped by to watch the surfers.
The perth park will have the most recent technology and looks even better. And it will be warm!
I can't wait and I live around the corner! I also can't wait to teach my son to surf here (he'll be 5 when it open).
What sh1ts me about this is because the proposed area is next door to the rich folk, they are opposing it.
But most of them became rich from development like this, even if only indirectly. Capitalism is great til its in your suburb hey richies???
Bloody NIMBYs
^^ "NIMBY" is a fun label to use until it is you opposing something. I've been hit with the label lately (by the dick wanting to spend his bucks in my serene location) and it pisses me off, because it's a legit complaint about a noisy eyesore proposed for a pristine area that was never supposed be home to any business venture, let alone one that involves big **** off 24 hour gennies that quite frankly, I don't want to listen to every night. Rant over.
I reckon the beautiful wide open grassy area there is extremely valuable to anybody living in a city. It's one of the nicest bits of Perth and as a public open space it's free for everybody to enjoy.
Leave the area the way it is and build 10 wave parks/shopping centres/concert halls anywhere else- they don't need to go on the river foreshore.
Greetings gents,
When seeing all the comments here some positive some not so much for the wave park.
Shane reckons a field of grass is better and everyone likes that more than a wave park........
Whilst It causes me to facepalm and i dont understand please enjoy the lawn get out there and have a game of bowls with all the other retirees who live around there............
Unbelievable....wa wait awhile....
Projects like these need to have many positives to offset the negatives, like ensuring the huge amount of energy they use is carbon neutral (attach it to a solar PV and battery storage facility that can power local homes), rather than run it on coal or gas power. Or, make sure the water used is recycled or sourced from the sea rather than potable water from a tap with added salt...
Anything you can do to make it a sustainable and value-added development helps.
If you just whack it up and don't think about those things in 2017, you're staring at a failure in the making ....
I wish you all the best.
You know what jb your right a guy has posted on here most likely from am antifa lawn group and cranked the green thumbs.
I strongly suspect "shane" is a local in the area and maybe has shares in the bowls club...
A lot of green thumbs with no other comments..........
Shane and green thumbers im calling you out ......
What you say s?
Adriano has some valid points about solar power and the lik yet no doubt burns fossil fuels in his car and enjoys the odd cage farmed boiled egg with his soy latte. So whilst some of comments have credit i font see real weight behind them, you could always campaign adventure worlds use of power on the roller coaster if you really cared or perhaps one of the 15 screen cinemas etc etc....
Gee I was just offering some suggestions and you shoot me down with typical myths about politically polarised dietary choices or the fact that I like millions of other Aussies drive a car! Imagine that? A car!
Bad form mate. Not a great way to campaign for a controversial construction project.
I looked at the proposed design and I can't see a single solar panel or mention of any renewable energy integration. Seriously? In Perth? In 2017?
Other than that I can see the merit in the overall proposal, but I question the eventual commercial success of the residential component. I question if people really want to live in the middle of a noisy busy amusement park. Surfers yes, but how many surfers would actually buy in?
Well if noise is not such an issue then it may be OK.
I still question the complete apparent lack of renewable energy initiatives in the master plan. Wave parks use huge amounts of power to drive the surf and filter water.
